Gah, I almost forgot: the HUGE annual used booksale that benefits the Northfield Hospital Auxiliary starts tomorrow afternoon at 4 or 5 pm. It goes until Saturday. It's the biggest used booksale in Minnesota and you should all get yourselves to Northfield for it. It takes up the entire floor of our ice arena.

I really should not go, because I do not need to buy another box of books, but I don't really care. I WANT THEM

my landlord did the charming illegal thing last wk where he busted into my place...and i happened to be, uh, indisposed on the toilet at the time...plus there was a bizarre pyramid of beer cans in one corner which made it look like i've been operating a fraternity house here (hopefully it inspired the man to institute more than one teensy-ass recycling bin in the garbage area, wtf?)

my landlord turns up all the time without the required 24 hour notice. it's annoying but he's always so chipper about it, i feel like if i say anything it'll just cause shit.

i'm completely weirded out by the fact that you americans pay your rent by cheque and actually post it... NO ONE in nz does that - it's all automatic bank payments/direct debits.

altho i did have a landlord years ago who insisted on us paying in cash but he was a pretty dodgy mofo.

i subletted a place last year where the landlord insisted on cash payments. i wanted to believe that he was up to exotically super-shady stuff, but i guess it was just shady tax stuff
