i think it's been in the fridge since early march. date was 13 april.

if it does not look or smell weird, i say go for it.

although i admit that i have thrown out stuff that's probably fine, because i'd rather not worry about it.

i threw away the last jar of my grandfather's pickled beets, a few months after he died, because i couldn't tell whether or not the lid had popped.

i know. the stupid thing is that i had delayed opening them because, well, i wanted them for later.

(i know some of you might wonder that i didn't throw out a jar of pickled beets to begin with. if you're not from the south, you probably don't get it. and that's okay.)

I got my grandmother's ragu recipe - the best, most evocative food I've ever eaten - and put it in my palm pilot for safety (it was 2000 or something, they were okay then). A few months later I broke the palm pilot. And I never got the recipe again before she died.

On the plus side, I make a pretty good ragu of my own. It's just not like nonna's :(

Word up ITR. Just back from a 36 hours in Brighton. Aside from ten minutes or so this morning while watching spinal tap and a similar amount on the beach this afternoon I have not slept since I woke up on Saturday. I crazy.

GAH treadmill time again... so soon.

Today I BURNED some TRASH and then chainsawed some more dead hickory into fireplace size bits and then I went and wired a couple of D batteries up to an aluminum baffle under the birdfeeder so as to ELECTROCUTE some MISCHIEVOUS COONS

it was totally weird working underneath the birdfeeder trying to make sure the ground wire would stay put and hearing all the little birds going back and forth only a few feet over my head

remy and lingbert and lxy came to the ballet. i wore a suit and we put on the LOL festival (yes that was the name) and i did in fact lol

in one of the pieces dancers threw each other oranges onstage and i stood at the side and they danced in the wings when they weren't on and i got an orange

guys i was at the bar and decided to revert to my college game of 'try out different flavored vodkas with tonic' so i had many RUBY REDs. i first tried w/ soda but then decided tonic is better. then i thought lemon instead of lime, but i was wrong. lime is a better compliment to the RUBY RED and tonic.

Whoa, I am waiting for that "time shifting" to become a patented THING. But that is funny about copyright law. (Well, unless I'm violating TEH LAW here...)

Also, that sounds like a good game. I will need it by the end of this week...

time shifting is like how you are allowed to tape something off tv and watch it later. not reallllly that insane but i love that term! there is also space shifting, and we kept fucking up during class and saying shape shifting.

oh also i had a crowning vanity moment tonight when i had been watching this asian chick in the 2nd band and thinking how awesome her hair was and how i can never get mine to look that good and then later she complimented mine and asked if it was real, and when i said yes, said she was jealous of it and that hers was not real.
