i almost told her that i thought SHE was also fucking rude. but i bit my tongue instead.

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

what was the lead up?

estela, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:03 (eighteen years ago)

you should memorise some civil shakespearean retorts to hurl back for such occasions. e.g. "I bite my thumb at thee.... b-atch"

Upt0eleven, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:18 (eighteen years ago)

she wasn't even in my section, but the slack fucks doing the front room needed my help. her and her 3 middle-aged drunk cronies were being loud and obnoxious and i was rushed. i put their plates down and as i was walking/running off one of them started to ask for cutlery and i cut her off and said yep, cutlery and napkins are on the way. apparently (i was outta earshot) she yelled out THAT GIRL WAS FUCKING RUDE which was followed by THEY'RE ALL FUCKING RUDE.

then my boss kicked them out.

ok, not really... they continued being assholes, a whole bunch of ppl left out of disgust, one of my bosses told them to leave, while my other two bosses totally chickenshit themselves trying to make amends. it was quite a farce.

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

i have never been tolerant of assholes and i'm no good at biting my tongue when people are downright rude. fortunately the customer service jobs i've had have been in places where i was actively encouraged to tell the customers to go fuck themselves if they were unpleasant.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:24 (eighteen years ago)

and no, have not yet called the girl. I'm in Brighton tomorrow and Sunday so if anything happens it won't be til next week/weekend anyway. also still a bit O_o over the late night phonecall but i can get over that. hothothothothothot

Upt0eleven, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

i'm always way too slow to say anything sharp and cutting. it's usually not until the moment has passed that i think of something.

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

oh i was never sharp and/or cutting. sample dialogue b/w me and wanker customer:

Customer: I've been standing here for fucking ages! Why the fuck won't you serve me?
Me: Because you're a cunt.

ah the power of the barman. loved that job.

Upt0eleven, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

(btw, for other itr-ers, I am nicer than that usually. angry period of my life that one.)

Upt0eleven, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

i had never seen chickenshit used as a verb before

Customer: I've been standing here for fucking ages! Why the fuck won't you serve me?
Me: Because you're a cunt.

wow

Lingbert, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:49 (eighteen years ago)

it's a kiwi thing

Rubyredd, Friday, 18 April 2008 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

As vicious and unpleasant as that exchange seems it was just the way things were at that particular club. It was the absolute scummiest of rock venues and the customers knew what to expect and quite happy to put up with that kind of treatment. The manager was always downstairs in the office mainlining vodka and hoovering up coke so the bar staff pretty much had carte blanche to handle things as we saw fit (within reason).

Upt0eleven, Friday, 18 April 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

irritable because show that i really wanted to see tonight is sold out, and if i hadn't been such a lazy shump i could have easily gotten presale tickets bump

Sara R-C, Friday, 18 April 2008 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

I really do think you need a naggy secretary in your life to take on these tasks for you.

It would give you someone new to complain about, too.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 April 2008 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

Good lord, that book!

But yes, John will look very pretty, I am sure.

Sara R-C, Friday, 18 April 2008 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

It reminds me of the story a friend who worked at a publishing company told me about one of the submissions they got. It was a similar type of children's book, only it was called Daddy's New Hair. They passed on the manuscript.

Sara R-C, Friday, 18 April 2008 22:37 (eighteen years ago)

Daddy's Little Blue Pills

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 April 2008 22:40 (eighteen years ago)

I invented a new word.

EMONEBRIATION

That is all

El Tomboto, Saturday, 19 April 2008 01:08 (eighteen years ago)

i am liking this.

tehresa, Saturday, 19 April 2008 01:17 (eighteen years ago)

wtf, plastic surgery industry

HI DERE, Saturday, 19 April 2008 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

I canNOT get warm tonight. I don't think plastic surgery is going to fix this. Weight lifting routine might, although I am totally unethusiastic about this plan.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

sara i totally envy your workout ethic

tehresa, Saturday, 19 April 2008 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

It's more like compulsion, but thanks!

The weight lifting is really important to me (even though it is soooo boring) because my left arm was pretty helpless after being in a cast for two months. I have yet to find a good way to get my dexterity and strength back in my left hand... probably learning to play piano or guitar would help, but I have time/money issues with that right now.

As for the treadmill thing, that's how I justify watching tv and movies!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 02:38 (eighteen years ago)

that's why i wish i had this stuff at home. i would work out instead of drinking 3 glasses of wine.

tehresa, Saturday, 19 April 2008 02:39 (eighteen years ago)

I bought the treadmill for fifty bucks at a garage sale. It's old and loud, but it is functional. Free weights are from Target and I use the Kathy Smith Lift Weights to Lose Weight DVD 2x a week. (Sooooooo boring...)

Ugh, speaking of which, I should stop sitting here and go do the lower body section. BLAH. 3 glasses of wine sounds SO! MUCH! BETTER!

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 02:49 (eighteen years ago)

i wishi had room for a treadmill.

tehresa, Saturday, 19 April 2008 02:49 (eighteen years ago)

I keep it folded up in the laundry room and drag it out 3x a week. The laundry room is huge, but with all the stuff in it, the treadmill does make it crowded.

It is too bad you are not in the area; you could come over and exercise here and then we could undo all the good we did with teh wine. And possibly some chocolate. Mmmmm chocolate.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 03:18 (eighteen years ago)

See now I'm undoing all the good I did exercising by eating crackers with pepper brie.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 04:35 (eighteen years ago)

FASCINATING, I KNOW

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 04:35 (eighteen years ago)

So sleepy. So I'm going to sleep.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 19 April 2008 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

drunks!

we were standing outside bar and my roommate walked by on his way home and we were chatting and then he was like 'ok i think i need to go home and puke now' and we were like 'ok dude. rock on.'
