Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

Meantime, how not to break into a slumber party.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

-- HI DERE, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 8:30 PM (11 minutes ago)

WOULD YOU PERHAPS LIKE TO BUY A GUITAR STORE?

John Justen, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 20:42 (eighteen years ago)

oh wait, those are dollar signs

John Justen, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

You could come to nursing school and probably not get rich, but probably have a decent job. Lots of different kinds of nursing out there. Also, you'd be one of the only men!

I suppose that's not exactly "instant," though.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

I feel bad that you are so stressed out by your job. That is teh lame.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

START BAR START BAR START BAR in mn of course

John Justen, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 21:10 (eighteen years ago)

I-met-a-girl bump.

sux to be stressed out with work. is there any way you can just, y'know, not go? this is what i did today. it worked out for the best.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

man oh man the worst thing about owning your own store is that the sick day concept does not apply.

John Justen, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

well, that and making no money

John Justen, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

in that respect i am fortunate in that i own, umm, (more or less) nothing.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

You guys, I just got up from a nap and had a conversation with A. about the same thing ("I am dreading going to work tomorrow," etc.) I am sorry that I cannot fix this for anyone! ;_;

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 22:48 (eighteen years ago)

That being said, I would totally be a regular visitor at any bar that any one of you might open in the Twin Cities. (And THAT being said, I can't tell you how much owning a restaurant sucks/is exhausting/is different from other retail).

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 22:49 (eighteen years ago)

Nick, details!!

Mark C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:05 (eighteen years ago)

tehresa, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in class right now!

ENBB, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:42 (eighteen years ago)

I don't have class tonight!

And I don't have it tomorrow night either (except that I actually have a test-out, which is way more stressful... still, it's a lot shorter!)

ENBB, I love that you are IN CLASS NOW. I see that you are learning a lot!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

I SHOULD BUY THIS SCRUB TOP Y/N

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

I love how the pink piping screams "military feminity."

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

das hawt

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:50 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I'm learning tons about how to construct bivariate tables, I think. I just wanna go home!

ENBB, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:02 (eighteen years ago)

wtf program are you in again?

El Tomboto, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:04 (eighteen years ago)

MA in Women's Health - we've been learind SPSS for the past few weeks but I'm too tired to pay attention right now.

ENBB, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

oops - "learning" not learind. I are good typer.

ENBB, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:10 (eighteen years ago)

That sounds really hard. Statistics class requirement may be the thing that keeps me from going to graduate school in nursing. (That being said, women's health = major interest of mine. ENBB I am totally aggravated that you don't live closer to me)

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

sold a shit ton of stuff today. going to bar to get drunk.

John Justen, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:40 (eighteen years ago)

that clinton obama debate thread is going to eat us alive ;_;

John Justen, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

OH NOES! ;_;

But good that you had a good sales day!

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 00:54 (eighteen years ago)

(That being said, women's health = major interest of mine. ENBB I am totally aggravated that you don't live closer to me)

I KNOW - me too! We'd could have great talks.

Statistics at 9:00 p.m. when I got up at 6 and worked a full day is just cruel.

I want to go to bar and get drunk

ENBB, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:00 (eighteen years ago)

i shoudl start taking my laptop to class so i can play on the internets. except 3/4 of my classes are not on campus and i don't know if i'd even have internet access.

tehresa, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

Not on laptop - we're in the computer lab tonight. Concentration - 0.

ENBB, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

ahhhh

tehresa, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

I actually got all my shit done early today so I could try and go to the bar with some coworkers before my usual punchout time of 2200 and now I'm waiting on said coworkers to get done with THEIR work

El Tomboto, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

:-(

ENBB, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

Tom, I hope you get to go out soon!

ENBB, plz come directly to MN so that we can go out and have drinks and talk about women's health.

tehresa - I wish I could take my laptop, too, but I don't for similar reasons.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:35 (eighteen years ago)

And now I must hit the treadmill. ;_;

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

where is my manila envelope of things to put in portfolio!? it has been on my bookshelf for a year and has suddenly vanished?! :(S:DLGJK

tehresa, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:44 (eighteen years ago)

whew thank god, apparently my 'it looks like a disaster but i know where everything is' method failed me because i'd apparently filed it away in an expandable file in a box under the bed.

tehresa, Thursday, 17 April 2008 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

having an Important Things Folder is crucial

jessie monster, Thursday, 17 April 2008 02:04 (eighteen years ago)

i have "important folder is important" for some things...

tehresa, Thursday, 17 April 2008 02:20 (eighteen years ago)

I have a an "Important Stuff" folder - in a safe deposit box (including my expired passport, which isn't so important now that it is expired...) and a "Special Stuff" box in my closet (including the shoes I got married in and one of 4lex's preemie sized diapers).

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 03:41 (eighteen years ago)

this folder came in handy lately as i lost my wallet and needed things like passport/birth cert for getting stuff replaced. to be fair, it is in an entire file box of lots of important files - i'm not a complete disaster, but things that are used frequently do not really fit into organization atm (i should get a file cabinet).

tehresa, Thursday, 17 April 2008 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

If you saw the state of most of my life, tehresa, you would think I needed 20 file cabinets.

But yeah, you should get one! I could get one, but I don't know that I would manage to motivate myself to use it. Hmmmm.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 04:11 (eighteen years ago)

final bump before sleeeeeeeep

Good night guys

Sara R-C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

Woo I did karaoke last night - (almost) sober, too! I sang: Poison, Regulate, Welcome to the Jungle, This Charming Man and.... one other, bugger, what was it... oh! The Love Cats :)

Mark C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 09:38 (eighteen years ago)

That's supoib. How's your Axel impression?

(btw, I passed out before I could provide details last night but am in the middle of a lengthy composition that is bordering on becoming a novella. It's probably not very interesting but I'm gonna subject y'all to it anyway)

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 17 April 2008 10:06 (eighteen years ago)

My Axel impression was passable. My Robert Smith wasn't bad. My Nate Dogg was, of course, flawless.

Mark C, Thursday, 17 April 2008 10:16 (eighteen years ago)

I would expect nothing less. You old Dogg. Unnecessarily detailed account of my yesterday coming up.

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 17 April 2008 10:35 (eighteen years ago)

Nick, details!!

Since I skived off work yesterday I can't really share with anyone in the office today so I'll dump the story on itr if that's a-okay? I am going to provide lots and lots of inconsequential and unrelated context so feel free to just skim it. Or ignore altogether.

My friend George is at drama school and had his graduation showcase yesterday at a theatre in Piccadilly - an hour comprised of 2 minute dualogues and a whorey re-worded version of 'I get by with a little help from my friends'. Surprisingly entertaining - a few of them hammed it up a bit but being so short all in all it suited my attention deficient demeanour.

Afterwords everyone goes for drinks afterwords. As a rule I find actors pretty insufferable but on an individual basis I'm open to being persuaded otherwise. The ones I met yesterday were largely far less actor-y than I expected and I amused myself by calling them 'faabulous' while another friend and I pretended to be our mate's entourage and swaggered along in his wake. I was definitely E, he was Turtle. Oh, who am I kidding?

After several Guinni on an empty stomach we went for a fairly substantial meal to unempty it and then back to a pub. My round. It's always my round. I happened to forget one of our number so made a return journey to the bar. Patiently I wait my turn. And wait and wait. As so often happens an attractive blonde sidles up and is served within seconds. I make some comment along the lines of "who d'you have to sleep with to get a drink around here" but I'm not really that bothered - when I worked behind a bar I would always serve the pretty girls first .

When she only asks for a jack and coke for herself I tell the barman to add my Guinness to her order. Haggling over how much I'm gonna give her turns to general conversation; she's an actress - SHOCKAH - from California hoping to eventually get into film after her MA and has just filmed some corporate film for a tequila company. This is the point at which I perhaps should have suggested a round of Patron but I don't. I'm pretty sure it would have finished me off anyway.

We end up chatting for about 40 minutes and the conversation - really really easy, thanfully I am drunk enough to not be all OMFG I'M TALKING TO A PRETTY GIRL - is only broken off when she has to grab some friends before they leave but she seems keenish, on resuming. Which we do, briefly, before I responsibly decide to go home and try and take pre-emptive action against the inevitable looming hangover. Anyway, we exchange numbers and agree to hang out some time - although I don't honestly expect this to happen - and I make a dignified-ish exit.

A few hours after I get home I get a phone call from - weird - the same girl. She must have been seriously hammered by this point and she's askign me where I went and vrious other questions that don't make a huge amount of sense. Says she'll call me tomorrow and - get this - ends the call with 'Love you'. WTF?!? She was really really hot and everything but I am truly hoping she called me by mistake. Although if she does have someone to say I love you to there may be no point in pursuing this one anyway.

But like I said, she's WOAH WOAH WOAH cute so maybe in a couple of days I'll send her a text. I am constantly moaning about how rarely I meet any girls at all so when I do meet one and they actually tick a few boxes I might as well give her a chance. I r jaded.

Pretty much managed to fill my morning with this. Now must go and do some work finish reading the Clinton/Obama debate thread.

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 17 April 2008 10:36 (eighteen years ago)

Hee nice. What is it about American girls/British boys eh.
