(my 2c is that it was such a deeply unsolicited and unnecessary leaping-in-with-a-chair that it can't be viewed as anything other than hostile, V admitted he had no interest in the music! dick move - sure, aimed at a perhaps slightly more beloved poster, so not short of callers-out, but a dick move for sure. what made it stand out is that such dick moves are rare on ilx in 2023, even if you'd have gotten more of that sort of thing on old ilx)

(that said, as has been speculated it probably generated more engagement with the thread than it may have otherwise gotten? admittedly not the sort of engagement you'd really want)

I’m wondering if tlg would have bothered to correct a male poster in such a fashion, that correction was unnecessary and ivy wasn’t wrong to feel it was a bs contribution.

lol at "nothing at all wrong with the OP" in the context of ilx ... like compared to some of the "First Response Hall of Fame" classics ... I think it's nice that people are being sympathetic to ivy being upset by the criticism, because it's nice to be sympathetic to other people when they are upset, but y'all should be honest about the fact that this personal concern is motivating this ... if tlg had posted that in response to a post by whiney or j0rdy or imago (just naming posters who have gotten a bunch of negative criticism of things they wrote ... just off the top of my head), it would have not prompted this concern.

I read sarahell's point to be more that the consensus on the rudeness-level was mostly influenced by ivy's strong reaction, however who really cares whether anyone else would be a better sport about a nitpicky attack on an earnest post? It's not very nice at all! There are ways to playfully roast someone but that wasn't it.

i do feel bad and like i overreacted and i feel simultaneously grateful and terrible that several ppl swooped in and feel especially bad that it got personal and honestly wish we were not talking about this two days later

That is an ancient bug. The last time we successfully moved a thread, we had to have stet on call the whole time in case the site broke, and that's not something we can do regularly. Best thing to do if you realise you've posted a thread on the wrong board is to start a duplicate in the correct place and ask us to lock the incorrect one.

I can't believe no one has asked for the Insane Clown Posse thread to be moved in this thread tbh.
