The parentheses bug is a more general message board code issue, I think? Or at least I've seen it happen on other boards too that use BBCode.

yo, why do posts at top of long threads not load anymore? is this an intentional design decision or a bug? because it's very bad (imho)
if it's intentional can we at least get an option to toggle off?
thx,-flopson

Definitely not intentional. Got a link to an example thread please?

Feel free to delete if you don't want stack traces publicly posted on the site; was mostly wondering if this is a known issue tied to old data, indication that something is screwy with my authentication, or an actual problem.

ok,
love* in the time of plague (and by love* i mean brexit* and other dreary matters of uk politics)
that image shows as a broken link to me. it's a convoluted fbcdn url, but i've seen the same thing with twitter images. the broken link isn't the problem though. when i right click and view image i can see the image fine, but then i can't get back to the original page - the back button is greyed out, the back on the context menu is greyed out. why would that be?
(firefox, mac)
― koogs, Wednesday, 27 May 2020 09:00 (four years ago) link
(ah, ok, right click, then middle click on 'view image' opens it in a new tab, which is missing as an option in the menu in firefox)

neither of these are big deals but just since they crossed me mind:
can we embed youtube links that look like the urls you get when you click share, i.e. https://youtu.be/TuP86rfnR3A ?
and can we rewrite youtube embed urls to youtube-nocookie.com per https://dri.es/how-to-remove-youtube-tracking?

vote against the first - it's very handy to be able to select and post Belgium links when you don't want to embed, rather than have to type open square bracket you are ell equals paste url close square bracket paste url again open square bracket backslash you are ell close square bracket

Something odd might be happening - at the moment, the 'second thoughts' thread has an answer from 37 minutes ago - but it doesn't show up on ILE's New Answer page at all, the most recent thread there is from 59 minutes ago. Is it cutting off the very top entry?
― Andrew Farrell, Sunday, 30 August 2020 12:19 (four years ago) link
The post at the top of the most recent thread is by stet, but clearly it is too early to demand the democratisation of the 'pause' button that he has clearly developed.

It’s possible someone dropped it from SNA, will investigate later.

Just stepped away for lunch, came back and...are my eyes deceiving me, or has the typeface on the borad just been changed? The typeface on the info under the posts remains unchanged, so I'm inclined to think I'm not just suffering a postprandial aneurysm here.

i just did a server restart, it's possible it lost your preference setting somehow — try resetting in preferences.

Yes, looks like that was it. Haven't paid enough attention to the style settings to realize I could change the typeface! Thanks.

There's a thing I've noticed in Zing the last couple of days where if a post ends with quote tags, the date/timestamp gets cut off. I think quoted text is the common factor, but I can't swear to it. Here's the most recent post where I noticed it: Joe Biden, Senator from Citibank (oops, DELAWARE), to Run for President

in all seriousness, can we do something to strip referral tags, or would that break other stuff?
― Überschadenfreude (sleeve), Thursday, 14 January 2021 04:05 (three years ago) link
My understanding is that removing utm tags etc (which I'm not against attempting to do) only "hurts" the people who are buying the campaigns/using the analytics service. It doesn't really affect Facebook or Google, except by diminshing the value of their analytics tools by a micro-fraction. No?
