Neanderthal, Friday, 4 September 2020 15:56 (three years ago) link

I've been thinking about starting a thread similar to this which is just 'songs you sing to your cat', as every time I feed my boy shrimp & plaice wet food I sing him "I'm gonna feed you shrimp and plaice, gonna stuff it in your face" or similar (usually Prodigy version rather than Max Romeo tbh). Also lots of songs modified to be about his fluff.

emil.y, Friday, 4 September 2020 15:56 (three years ago) link

Phone/keys, it is you I'm looking for...

For the cat, it's 'I'm going to feed you Norman, I'm going to feed you, yes I am!' He looks at me like I'm a dick, of course,

my best friend has a cat with a big butt and she used to shout DUMPTRUCK at her, and then that word made her boyfriend and I to break into the Thong Song, before stopping once we remembered we were singing it about a cat

Neanderthal, Friday, 4 September 2020 16:43 (three years ago) link

I'm pretty sure I've sung "let me see that fluff, Albyyyy, that fluff fluff-fluff fluff-fluff" at my cat.

emil.y, Friday, 4 September 2020 16:48 (three years ago) link

I have no clear idea why but every time I read the new US politics thread title I think:

Murder rap to keep you dancin'
With a crime record like Charles Manson

always love how that song reduces weighty historic moments as 2 second soundbytes

Global pandemic is here
Angry streets, police beats
QAnon is hot

every time I see the name Ted Danson I think of Elvis Costello's "No Dancing" and what it would be like if the lyrics were all about Ted Danson

My kid is hardcore into Pokémon lately and I get a bunch of their names set to tunes in my head.

Besides the obvious Siouxsie pronunciation of pikachu, I hear Stevie Nicks or Gene Simmons saying “golduck woman” and Stephen Malamus yelling “not here babe...torchic!”

Various things get sandwiched into Hall & Oates' Maneater these days:

Whoa-oh here she comes
Watch out boy, she'll raise your boat
Whoa-oh here she comes
She's an airbladder

Me dealing with a constipated dog that I was walking last week had an rewrite of the Shoop Shoop song in my head.

"Is it in the street?
Oh no, that's just some sticks
Is it by his feet?
Oh no, that's melted Twix
If you wanna no
The dogg didn't go
It's still in his butt"

And of course we all went off on a long mental vacation singing that to the tune of "Walk Like an Egyptian."
