Singapore's Masia One raps and plays a bunch of other styles on this album (featuring both SPOON and KC The Buzzin' Hornet, despite rumours that they refuse to share a studio)

Masia One - Far East Empress

Randa from New Zealand released the greatest single of all time:

(their Album Of The Decade isn't finished yet)

I'm still looking for Deutschrap that I like as much as Ace Tee's fantastic track "Bist du down?"... it's been 3 years and everything else sounds like Tagesschau or a 10-cent Protools challenge. Maybe understanding it is a barrier to enjoyment somehow. I thought this album Komplexität by EBOW from Austria was pretty good, with the hot prodoocer Nik Le Clap.

In Paris PNL reached the top literally with their unprecedented Eiffel Tower music video, while the German visitors OZ, Zako159 and Chakka were left dans la rue

The label La Souterraine has made a compilation album of female rappers they friended on French Instagram. Kind of a mixed bag, but for the brightest future I'm gonna bet on Holy G

In Paris PNL reached the top

"Au DD" was 2019's biggest video in France.

And you know you've made it when
^ 1.4 million views

(As mentioned in the videos list "Pookie", 2nd in France, was the most popular internationally)

Still tryin to work out what happened in Germany in 2019, but it seems everyone got out-rapped by a Youtube star whose video had so much product placement, it had to be labelled as an advert. Warning: Don't buy these glamorous products

Posted by ShariVari in the ILM poll - Ukraine's Alyona Alyona, with the typical backstory of an O.G. from the Ends

[Alina] Pash also appears on Padlo by Alyona Alyona, who started out as a primary school teacher in rural Ukraine making viral videos and within about a year was one of the country's top rappers. Her album, Pushka, is excellent.

Videos Filmed In A Norwegian Supermarket:

Matata; a freshman group in the Gengetone scene, have dropped a mad tune featuring rapper Lamaz Span K.O.B dubbed “Mare Mare”.
The powerhouse consists of Marcus, Freddy, Richie, Festus and Ken and they all drop some serious heat on this banger. – (

I've already gone on about this in the album poll of one-vote wonders (and big thanks to its ILM voter) – MC Yallah teamed up with the French-Berliner DJ Debmaster to make a great album with the best blurb

‘Kubali’ catches Uganda-born, Kenya-based MC Yallah step on and off 11 seriously ruffshod productions blessed with the best of both scuzzy industrial fetish styles and up-to-the-second global bass/trap movements.

10 OVER 10

Music TV in the West may be fading away, but in Kenya there's a Friday night show that's appointment viewing. 10 Over 10 is a live program that's been going for a few years, showcasing rappers, singers, and Kenya's sickest DJs, many of them with memorable stage names.

It's on for a couple of hours on Fridays, scheduled from 19:00 GMT (but may start late).
The channel, Citizen TV, has a rewindable live stream:

It's also caused a moral outrage because the dancing contains so much unfortunate booty-on-crotch action, no doubt accidentally.

These were the most toned-down episodes:

10 OVER 10 | Rosa Ree and Timmy Tdat keep it locked

Sho Madjozi: I was an accidental rapper #10Over10

HAPA KUBASH TU... Kristoff, Yvonne Darcq, Kush Tarcey collabo works

10 OVER 10 | Is Gengetone our new tone or have we gone too far?

I will often check out the Rate Your Music Charts for the best of the year and play things that look interesting. I have found out about some of my favorite new albums this way (I discovered the Idles debut and relevant to a hip-hop thread, JPEGMafia, this way). The other night I played what the chart says is the #52 album of the year and was blown away.

God Has Nothing To Do With This Leave Him Out Of It

Backxwash is a Zambia-born, Montreal-based transfemme rapper/producer. The first thing you hear on the album is Ozzy Osbourne; later on she raps over Led Zeppelin. The record has a claustrophobic Nu Metal feel at times. But the anger is definitely modern. It is pegged as horrorcore but unlike the horror is real now. NPR's Lars Gotrich is evidently a patreon as well. Maybe some of you will dig it. As an aging metal guy, I like one rap record a year these days and this seems to be the one.
