What better way to start

"67 link up with some German drillers and the results aren't very good. There's an Irish drill scene now as well" (by paolo in the UK thread)

from last year but just discovered Ukrainian rapper Alina Pash who raps over dance grooves that incorporate Ukrainian folk music, both the tracks she has released so far are fantastic

Sarkodie is Ghana’s biggest rapper, but I find his singles very hit or miss these days. This new one is banging though, thanks in no small part to Akan, Ghana’s best new rapper:

Sarkodie ft. Akan • All Die Be Die

(Akan’s Onipa Akoma album, released in 2017, is extremely good btw. It was #4 on my 2018 ballot, although I somehow never stanned for it.)

A nice piece about Alyona Alyona from Meduza.

I wrote about this in the film thread, but 'Gully Boy' is a pretty fun hip-hop flick about a young man from the gully - played by a 33-year old superstar who looks nothing like a 20-something from the gully - who rises to the top based on his fire inside. The tracks are written by the rappers it's based on, and they're pretty good.

From kpop 2019

Really should post this over on the J-pop thread but on a similar tip, Japanese-Korean artist Chanmina raps/sings in both languages + English. She's a Big Bang fan if it's not obvious.

btw thanks for making a thraed of Zheani , Aussie rapper from the Gold Coast. She's quite good, but I worry that she might lack confidence :)

a month late but that snelle track linked up thread is probably my favourite track of the year so far (non koffee division) only enhanced by the fact that the guy in the video looks like a young loius van gaal!!

The new PNL album, Deux Frères, is incredible.

Another Dutch one (video shot in Suriname):

Bizzey x Ramiks • S/O naar de... ❤️

Love the sampled (?) pan flute (?) riff.

Lyrically, it references this Dutch rap classic from 2007 (providing me with an excuse to post it here):

The Opposites ft. Dio & Willie Wartaal • Dom, Lomp & Famous
