That Drukgs effort was awful.
I used to love his DJ sets when i was into festivals back in the 60s. They agreed with my hating of people - spoiling the vibe

Richard's 60s sets were fucking awesome tho. You haven't lived until you've heard the 35 minute Hammond version of "Blue Calx".
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 30 March 2008 21:48 (eighteen years ago)
Chosen Lords soundin' better than ever yesterday. 'fenix funk 5' and 'reunion 2' hit soo hard.

I can't believe this is even being debated. One of the greatest electronic artists ever.

Nerd bonerz question re 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92': is there anywhere one can find out when the specific tracks were written? I have half a feeling the answer is "the fucking sleeve", which I don't have to hand, and another half a feeling that Aphex has always made a big effort not to say

I LOVE DRUKQS+
― Jordan, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)
my foot hurts, so i don't feel like getting up to get my cd. but there is no booklet in my copy. just a piece of paper with the cover on one side and blank on the other. did earlier pressings come with liner notes or something?
― Creeztophair, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 21:59 (eighteen years ago)
haha! thank you. i needed that laugh this afternoon!
also, i like ludo's answer to the question he poses. is aphex twin classic or dud? no, i don't think so.
― andrew m., Tuesday, 1 April 2008 22:08 (eighteen years ago)
There's no mention of recording dates or anything like that. Actually, it's hard to even figure out the track titles by the packaging alone.
― Z S, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 22:08 (eighteen years ago)
really?
i can see the track names fine on mine. i have the pias reissue. the back has the aphex logo rearranged to look like a smiling face, with the track names in a bold grey font.

V/VM Help Aphex Twins volumes 1 and 2 remain the best thing he's done since 1996.

I was so underwhelmed by chosen lords, I have no idea why it was so received so well, and so unanimously so. Although I might very well be more into it today, in all fairness.

Totally off topic, but has anyone else had the misfortune to stand next to a very odorous Luke Vibert? Dude smells so bad. I wonder if Mr. Twin smells as bad as Vibert. Now That's What I Call Funky!
― brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 12 January 2010 17:49 (sixteen years ago)
you think that's bad you should check out what he tastes like

Still think On EP is highlight of career. Warp version, of course.
― kate moss and heavy machinery in a dessert (Stevie D), Tuesday, 12 January 2010 18:16 (sixteen years ago)
i smoked a joint with vibert once but did not smell any foul odour
― sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Tuesday, 12 January 2010 18:19 (sixteen years ago)
I love Vibert and have been called a dirty hippy myself many times before. My observation is in no way meant to diss Vibert. He's awesome. I still covet the early bits and pieces of his catalogue and have paid to see him live multiple times since the body odor incident.
― brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 12 January 2010 18:35 (sixteen years ago)
love the GAK, and that one may be my favorite

Turns out the talking on the "Mummy Mix" of Come To Daddy was actually his mum? If he's not lying his head off (and really, even if he is) <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

seems likely, she's on Drukqs as well so
― i'm sorry for whatever (Noodle Vague), Friday, 29 July 2011 17:33 (fourteen years ago)
aphex twin classics or drukqs?
― MY WEEDS STRONG BLUD.mp3 (nakhchivan), Friday, 29 July 2011 17:35 (fourteen years ago)
Thing is, her accent on Drukqs sounds so different from the person speaking on the Mummy Mix (esp with the pitch shifting and all) sounds so different that I didn't recognise her.
― Aphex Twin … in my vagina? (Karen D. Tregaskin), Friday, 29 July 2011 17:37 (fourteen years ago)
some ppl sound quite different on the (answer)phone
― MY WEEDS STRONG BLUD.mp3 (nakhchivan), Friday, 29 July 2011 17:38 (fourteen years ago)
has anything happened since one of the warp ppl said a new aphex twin album is in the works (last yr iirc?)
― MY WEEDS STRONG BLUD.mp3 (nakhchivan), Friday, 29 July 2011 17:39 (fourteen years ago)
Not really, no. Vibert claimed to have heard some of the new tracks for the album, so there is ~something~ but who knows when anyone will pry it out of Richard's little mitts.
I'm going to squee about how cute and gentle and ever so slightly Cornish accented his voice sounds here, because if I'm going to be thrown off WATMM if I do any more fangirling.
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
I always knew he did 95% of his own singing, as well. like, people are always "who's the girl singing on some of the tracks on SAW85?" and it's just so patently obviously him, when you hear his speaking voice. So I'm glad that he says it's almost always him.
― Aphex Twin … in my vagina? (Karen D. Tregaskin), Friday, 29 July 2011 17:42 (fourteen years ago)
He was supposed to have a "tsunami"* of releases ready to go last year.
*Trying to remember if this was the phrase used, might have been something else.
