A predictable winner then. Glad to see Advance and Frequencies both do well.

windowlicker really should have won

am0n, Friday, 11 May 2007 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

No.

I'm thinking maybe Other People Place should have won for "Let me be me" alone.

jim, Thursday, 24 May 2007 23:45 (nineteen years ago)

oi! i didn't get a chance to vote in this poll!!!!!! YOU FUCKS!

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:24 (nineteen years ago)

the answer is Autechre - LP5.

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:24 (nineteen years ago)

actually, maybe i did vote.

listen, warp records was responsible for the best albums of the 90s end of. end fucking of.

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:26 (nineteen years ago)

people who voted for SAW2 and all the early shit are so wrong.

why have warp gone so shit since 2001? battles aside, it's all been bollocks and reissues and shit releases by once-upon-a-time good bands... why did idm die sucha hard death?

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

also - fuck 1 lfo.

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:28 (nineteen years ago)

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:29 (nineteen years ago)

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:29 (nineteen years ago)

campfire headphase BOLLOCKS!

also why no more love for the haunted dancehall? pure mashup area stonehead tunes! we love, love.

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

drunkjen btw.

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

i mean, there's nothing wrong with saw2 and the early shit, but there's so much better out there.

essentials:

boards - music has the right
autechre - lp5
aphex twin - come to daddy ep
plaid - restproof clockwork
sabres - haunted dancehall
two lone swordsmen - tiny reminders

i think those are the very best.

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:34 (nineteen years ago)

nigh!

the next grozart, Friday, 25 May 2007 03:39 (nineteen years ago)

the next grozart, Saturday, 26 May 2007 03:21 (nineteen years ago)

then get your shit out there

lfam, Saturday, 26 May 2007 03:43 (nineteen years ago)

wax

lfam, Saturday, 26 May 2007 03:44 (nineteen years ago)

I was the vote for Prefuse's first album - I think I just heard it at the right time with the right people, and consequently for weeks the whole house was walking around going "I'm about to ex......it" and "Fuck words of wisdom/I/foo/I fuck/dick/ge-ih-uh-I-do-I-lo-i-li-I-fuck/dick"

Hurting 2, Saturday, 26 May 2007 04:21 (nineteen years ago)

I've never understood just why SAW II is so beloved. I mean, CD1 track 1 and 3, for instance, I wouldn't hesitate to call some of the finest pieces of music I've ever heard. But even so, the vast majority is just way too dark for me, which still is fine, but for 2 and a half hours or so. . .

Not one vote for Electro-Soma though. . . hmmmmmmn. "Hall of Mirrors" alone puts it among my top choices; similarly so with Bytes and The Clan - "Mongol Hordes".

mehlt, Saturday, 26 May 2007 05:03 (nineteen years ago)

LP5 over Tri Repetae or Chiastic Slide?

Bill in Chicago, Saturday, 26 May 2007 15:00 (nineteen years ago)

^^^ absolutely! is the best autechre record (always prefered cichli suite to chiastic slide as well)

696, Saturday, 26 May 2007 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

Why isn't EP 7 there?

I'm strangely partial to that, and also to Incunabula

Hurting 2, Saturday, 26 May 2007 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

nine years pass...

I keep forgetting that Maximo Park were on Warp.

I like the "Butterfly Prowler" track on the new Clark album. His tracks can get a bit cluttered/muddled.. there's a lot going on in some of them, but it can be sort of impenetrable or too compressed-sounding.

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Friday, 14 April 2017 19:27 (nine years ago)

https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/features/track-by-track/track-by-track-clark-on-death-peak

He's did this track-by-track description, it's worth a gander

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Friday, 14 April 2017 19:33 (nine years ago)

That's a good description of his tracks ^ Some of them really hit the sweet spot for me, the closest he's come to a fully realized success is "Clark" I think.

Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Friday, 14 April 2017 19:49 (nine years ago)

good description in reference to your post braunld

Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Friday, 14 April 2017 19:50 (nine years ago)

The s/t is pretty solid throughout, been meaning to purchase it but something else always comes up. I read an interview where he talks about the book Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, and how the album (s/t) is sort of based on/related to it.. anyway, made me pick up the book and it was good, easy/engaging sci fi. Haven't yet delved further into the trilogy, though.

i meant to link that

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Friday, 14 April 2017 20:16 (nine years ago)

Oh nice, i'll have to check that book out. Reading the article that explains his recording process was really interesting. His enthusiasm for explaining the visceral sounds he achieves is v cool. Not sure it always translates to the most enjoyable experience but ymmv

Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Friday, 14 April 2017 21:16 (nine years ago)

Might be near to redo this poll with all the stuff that's come out since then.

Crazy Eddie & Jesus the Kid (Raymond Cummings), Friday, 14 April 2017 21:28 (nine years ago)

Drukqs is the best Warp Records album, objectively speaking

braunld (Lowell N. Behold'n), Friday, 14 April 2017 22:46 (nine years ago)

Plone were really good and underrated. Second unreleased album was aces

Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Friday, 14 April 2017 22:48 (nine years ago)

if we can judge an album by the ILM threads it inspires drukqs is a truly dreadful album

the late great, Friday, 14 April 2017 22:52 (nine years ago)

objectively speaking

Raul Chamgerlain (Noodle Vague), Friday, 14 April 2017 23:15 (nine years ago)

Surprised at how low the critical stock of Amber was nine years ago.

Siegbran, Friday, 14 April 2017 23:20 (nine years ago)

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 00:55 (nine years ago)

yeah, Amber is great.. (re: Autechre)

the early-mid 00s stuff (Draft + Untilted) is possibly my favorite of theirs. The AE_LIVE material is underrated as well
