ironic that Robyn starts this whole thing off
it's between Big Boi, El Guincho, and Crystal Castles/Robert Smith for me

― brimstead, Thursday, 13 May 2021 00:57 (five years ago)
I will let the two songs each by Robyn and Janelle cancel each other out and be the only vote for Titus Andronicus.

jeez "dancing on my own" must be one of the most overrated songs of all time (i like it tho)
― dyl, Thursday, 13 May 2021 02:55 (five years ago)
voting "teenage dream" (honorable mentions "not in love" and "boyfriend")
― dyl, Thursday, 13 May 2021 02:57 (five years ago)
this is a wack list, just a bunch of songs from the same 4 albums, that said I am voting for “all I want” lol because it’s one of my favorite songs ever
― k3vin k., Thursday, 13 May 2021 02:59 (five years ago)
to what extent is ilm (and lex's boosterism in particular) responsible for "wut" ending up on this list (it also placed on p&j!)
― dyl, Thursday, 13 May 2021 03:01 (five years ago)
this list is exhausting

waka is prob the right choice, but desire lines deserves a vote, imo

funny how much I liked Cee-Lo's "Fuck You" back then, and the song is like sandpaper to my ears now.

Voted for Call Your Girlfriend. I still have a lot of time for both Robyn singles, Boyfriend, Cold War, Go Outside, Shutterbug and Teenage Dream. This list really doesn't excite me that much though. A lot of my favourite albums of the year aren't represented here.
― kitchen person, Thursday, 13 May 2021 04:57 (five years ago)
I’ve never heard of most of these songs.
― Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 13 May 2021 07:42 (five years ago)
Between Shutterbug, Good Intentions Paving Company, Monster and Wut, went with the first one. Monaé's top songs have also aged surprisingly well.
Others: Warpaint (Warpaint), Ride (Ciara), Aqui (Tulipa Ruiz), Lero Lero (Luisa Maita), Luz de piedra de luna (Javiera Mena), The Brothel (Susanne Sundfor), Dreaming (Allo Darlin'), Detroit Falls (Pariah), Umm Hmm (Erykah Badu), Mulher do Fim do Mundo (Elza Soares), Oleku (Ice Prince), 10 over 10 (Naeto C)
― Nabozo, Thursday, 13 May 2021 08:07 (five years ago)
Maybe it's the old "10 year rule" but that list gave me the fear
― Urbandn hope all ye who enter here (dog latin), Thursday, 13 May 2021 08:29 (five years ago)
Gone for Shutterbug
Although I overlooked Waka. I like that song. Could have been tempted to vote for Sprawl II
― Urbandn hope all ye who enter here (dog latin), Thursday, 13 May 2021 08:31 (five years ago)
I’ll admit Round and Round would be my pick if he wasn’t such a monumental dirtbag. Not particularly fond of this era so I voted for Joanna Newsom in honor of my wife.
― Chris L, Thursday, 13 May 2021 09:01 (five years ago)
my favourite song from this year is (Mr) Twin Sister's "All Around And Away We Go" - of course not listed here

the reason for the misspelling, because of course i coped and pasted, they have added the genres to each line. i'm going to edit that out and so when editing 45 lines i dropped the "e" on change as my curser was one space off.
― Bee OK, Thursday, 13 May 2021 20:07 (five years ago)

Is ILX not still into "Rill Rill?" It was from ILX that I learned about it, and its ability to charm me has not lessened since 2009, an obvious winner among the options here
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Friday, 14 May 2021 04:55 (five years ago)
I think “Rill Rill” is decent enough but every other song on that album is better/more interesting
― 80's hair metal , and good praise music ! (DJP), Friday, 14 May 2021 11:38 (five years ago)
It amuses me that the "most commercial" song/single from a triple album sounds like the McGarrigles going prog.It puzzles me that a Platinum Blonde cover sung by the guy from the Cure is regarded as one of the best songs of the year 2010.
― Halfway there but for you, Friday, 14 May 2021 14:39 (five years ago)
Glad to see this series come back to life. There are too many Arcade Fire songs on this list even if I like that album. I couldn't get past the first entry and Robyn will get this vote.

i have peaked ahead and this years list is the worst of the decade, trying to say is that it will get better. regardless, still going to try and listen to all 45 songs before voting.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 15 May 2021 03:15 (five years ago)
Oof I actually like most of these songs.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Saturday, 15 May 2021 04:21 (five years ago)

All of these are good, some of them are great, many are songs I'll never go out of my way to listen to again
The two songs that have held up the best are probably "Teenage Dream" and "Boyfriend"

finally decided on the biggest earworm of the year for me "Pumped Up Kicks." sort of a messed up story. when this song was big and everywhere i remember we had a mass shooting, don't know which one as the US has them all the time now. this song popped in my head and would not leave.
"All the other kids with the pumped up kicksYou better run, better run faster than my bullet"
