glass beach album 2nd half is appealing more than the 1st - very good work so far

I never got around to really *getting into* the full hatchie album but its second half is devastating. Especially the final 90 seconds or so of Keep. And Stay with Me. And Secret.

I'm one of the seven people who voted for Purple Mountains and I have no previous emotional connection to Bergman or any of his music and only bothered to check it out when I heard he'd died. The fact that there were only six people more committed than me is insane.

Hatchie is my first vote to place. The album perfectly lived up to the promise of her EP for me. Apart from the singles, Secret and Unwanted Guest are the two standouts. Keep is a great closer too.. ah I just love the whole thing. I was sad to see she was so overlooked in most of the end of year lists.

I was one of the Purple Mountains #1s. No idea what happened, but he did so well in the singles poll I guess I can only shrug.

Bergman or any of his music

Damn, dude was way more versatile than I thought.

I likewise had no previous connection to Berman's music (pretty sure I had only heard "Random Rules" before). I came to the rest of his catalog and poetry through this album, which I think is a landmark.

It's crazier, the whole album is some kind of black metal / cosmic jazz fusion, drenched in harp and vibraphone. I absolutely love it.

It's cool, and mostly sidesteps the kind of avant-metal I just not-so-subtly dissed on the 2020 rolling metal thread.

this isn't quite the total achievement that the ark work is but 1) it's close 2) it combines all previous iterations of liturgy into this kind of all terrain armored transport liturgy vehicle. i voted for it

Glad the Carla album made it, one of my biggest favs from last year. Becoming one of my fav contemporary musical artists!

The Ark Work is an all-timer - this is merely brilliant. My #12. The way the title-track ascends through the glitches at its climax is genuinely wondrous, shivers thinking about it now

it's more screamo than black metal but it's pretty wild.

I think they've mostly had enough amazing ideas for a few tracks per album, and then there's been a bit too much filler on their records. This time they really stayed with the ideas and created a great whole

It's just nice to see people taking HHH's music seriously at last, it's been a long and often frustrating journey

I'm glad she tried to branch out but none of it really stuck (I thought A Seat at the Table was great btw).

This album is Solange's "Mutations" (don't ask me to elaborate, the thought just popped up).

Mutations was way more memorable than this tbf.
