Most ridiculous post about 'NTS Sessions 1-4' album on the Autechre thread

Just pick one of the sessions and check it out. There's plenty of good stuff on all 4.

yeah def hop into the new records. i'd say start with 2, it gives you a p good sense of what they're doing

also i think it has the strongest opening run

I think these are all good tracks to start with:

gonk steady one on NTS 1
tt1pd on NTS 3
column 13 on NTS 4

or else just go back to Exai which feels like where their current phase really started and is probably less daunting

I honestly think the new tracks, although lengthy, are easier going than stuff off of Exai and Elseq.

i mean i always rep hard for garbage tho from TRI REPETAE, and vordhosbn which is like my fave ambient piece ever

yeah Ross I just mean they deliberately started this album with its most off-putting tracks, nothing to do with anyone's level of acclimation to Ae

So weird, I like the opening run of #1 too much and have to remind myself to spread my listening and avoid burnout.

They're great but you have to admit most albums start with one of their hookier numbers yeah

I have a number of other album length mini playlists but this feels the most accessible and album like for someone wanting to get into the Sessions. Includes tracks from 1, 2, and 3.

Wow, listening to these as actual 'albums' is like hearing the finished version of Smile for the first time. It all starts making a lot more sense. I'm on NTS 3 today after enjoying NTS 2 yesterday.

Quite enjoying Acid Mwan Idle's dubbed out diving bell vibes; makes me think of a more abstract Two Lone Swordsmen

I've only gotten through NTS 1 & 2 so far, but I'm finally starting on 3. Really gotta wait for the right afternoon to get into these.

If you moved "frane casual" and "column thirteen" to Session 3, then Session 3 would contain the highest number of tracks I cannot live without.

But Session 2 has "xflood," "gonk tuf hi," "dummy casual pt2," "violvoic," and "e0," which are all 5/5 imo.

If we ever poll the entire box, not sure I could pick between 2 and 3.

i used to feel the same about frane casual but that track has a loooot going on, confined to an extremely weird and minute diorama with all the low tones bleached out.

i wish i heard this stuff when i listened to autechre, mostly sounds like bleeps n bloops to me :-/

This track really pays off.. after becoming fixated on the original Perlence track, on regular old Quaristice.

Dang this is a fantastic track, too. Very much an NTS leftover, but really, it should have been on the sessions. wow.

It'd be a delightful twist of events if Autechre started using mechanical spring reverb (recording their sounds through amplifiers, etc.), instead of relying on the digital reverb-freeze effects that have been so prominent since the Quaristice days. I suppose it's ridiculous to consider such a thing. If anything, Ae seem to be moving further / farther away from hardware (old school synthesizers, Elektron boxes, etc.), towards this hyper-digital frontier
