kind of like you, but you don't write songs.
― John Justen, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)
do u like their cover of scorpions 'windowlicker'
― am0n, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)
In retrospect it's clear that the title "Druckqs" was a not-so-veiled jab at RDJ's former bandmates.
― latebloomer, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)
So they suck 100% of the time, except for when they were making those songs? Do they temporarily cease sucking if they perform those songs live? What if they mix two of their sucks together, and one sucks, and one doesn't? Do they suck 50% for the duration?
― lukas, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)
Take my hand, Captain! Together we will arrive at the truth!
― lukas, Thursday, 25 October 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)
Lukas, I think the crucial issues are which members of the Aphex Twin Band sucked the most, and who was carrying the band the majority of the time. To the first, I'd say D. definitely sucked the most. To the second, I'd actually argue that the rotating cast of studio drummers probably added an elegance to the band that could not have existed otherwise.
― Z S, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah. Shame what happened to most of those drummers.
― lukas, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)
of course there are some song exceptions
Yeah, their songs are the best part. Richard has a fantastic voice.
― Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:22 (eighteen years ago)
The session drummers allegedly hated having to lay those drill n bass beats down, but they were pros and did the job as asked. R/D/J were real dictators in the studio. No one could satisfy them.
― latebloomer, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)
Aphex Twin Band back in their heyday, with original drummer Fred Ugolon (R.I.P.)

― latebloomer, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:34 (eighteen years ago)
I heard they're reuniting for Coachella
― Davey D, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

― latebloomer, Thursday, 25 October 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)
Shame he went all vaudeville post-Drukqs.
― Autumn Almanac, Thursday, 25 October 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)

― El Tomboto, Thursday, 25 October 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

― Autumn Almanac, Friday, 26 October 2007 03:03 (eighteen years ago)
is that richard d james lookalike laetitia casta!!??
i think aphex definitely knows his craft, and i'll often do the laundry to his more relaxing stuff. anything too noisy ie. falling too deep into the realm of electronica noisy, i don't enjoy so much though
― Charlie Howard, Thursday, 13 March 2008 14:21 (eighteen years ago)
fav recording by Rick James is a bootleg of him live@Liquid Room in Tokyo. and despite the soundquality, SanFran in 92.
Analords sounded like leftovers to me. Shouldn't he be working on a 'Gorillaz'-type side project by now?
― U-Haul, Thursday, 13 March 2008 14:35 (eighteen years ago)
u crzy dwg
― winston, Friday, 14 March 2008 01:38 (eighteen years ago)
Did RDJ just like retire and nobody noticed? Assuming both drukqs and Analord were leftovers of course. (sure sounded like leftovers to me. Wasn't the story that he found some songs laying around on his hard drive that he didn't give a shit about and just released them all as the drukqs album because he was desperate to get out of his contract with Warp?)
― Mr. Snrub, Friday, 14 March 2008 02:16 (eighteen years ago)
Been listening to SAW II like crazy for the past year or so. That album is so brilliantly good.
― Mr. Snrub, Friday, 14 March 2008 02:20 (eighteen years ago)
Isn't he behind The Tuss? First two-thirds of the album is great.
― robertwolf8080, Friday, 14 March 2008 02:39 (eighteen years ago)
the 'hangable auto bulb' collection is a big headphones favourite.
― sam500, Friday, 14 March 2008 02:44 (eighteen years ago)
'on' is amazing. 'surfing on sine waves' is 50% genius. perhaps he was a bad influence.

Xtal
Boy Girl
-Classic
That Drukgs effort was awful.
I used to love his DJ sets when i was into festivals back in the 60s. They agreed with my hating of people - spoiling the vibe
― Fer Ark, Sunday, 30 March 2008 21:44 (eighteen years ago)
yours truly,

― moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 30 March 2008 21:44 (eighteen years ago)
Richard's 60s sets were fucking awesome tho. You haven't lived until you've heard the 35 minute Hammond version of "Blue Calx".
― Noodle Vague, Sunday, 30 March 2008 21:48 (eighteen years ago)
Chosen Lords soundin' better than ever yesterday. 'fenix funk 5' and 'reunion 2' hit soo hard.
― Lowell N. Behold'n, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 02:11 (eighteen years ago)
I can't believe this is even being debated. One of the greatest electronic artists ever.
― avonhun, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 04:10 (eighteen years ago)

Ludo is a regular poster on De Subjectivisten!
― Curt1s Stephens, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 07:50 (eighteen years ago)
Nerd bonerz question re 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92': is there anywhere one can find out when the specific tracks were written? I have half a feeling the answer is "the fucking sleeve", which I don't have to hand, and another half a feeling that Aphex has always made a big effort not to say
― DJ Mencap, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 21:56 (eighteen years ago)
I LOVE DRUKQS+
― Jordan, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 21:58 (eighteen years ago)
my foot hurts, so i don't feel like getting up to get my cd. but there is no booklet in my copy. just a piece of paper with the cover on one side and blank on the other. did earlier pressings come with liner notes or something?
― Creeztophair, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 21:59 (eighteen years ago)
haha! thank you. i needed that laugh this afternoon!
also, i like ludo's answer to the question he poses. is aphex twin classic or dud? no, i don't think so.
― andrew m., Tuesday, 1 April 2008 22:08 (eighteen years ago)
There's no mention of recording dates or anything like that. Actually, it's hard to even figure out the track titles by the packaging alone.
― Z S, Tuesday, 1 April 2008 22:08 (eighteen years ago)
really?
i can see the track names fine on mine. i have the pias reissue. the back has the aphex logo rearranged to look like a smiling face, with the track names in a bold grey font.

― latebloomer, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 07:34 (eighteen years ago)
Reformed as The Tuss with some Cornish women.
