What would be the thinking of moving the Metallica poll up a few spots to give some breathing room between it and those generic metal polls?

15 minutes seems too long if you're going to have anything besides prog and jazz. Not being able to vote for Marquee Moon is just wrong.

Good idea. I say 8:00 is long enough to count as an epic. Let's take a month to discuss.

If the bottom line is 10 minutes, I guess I'll just have to vote for "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" multiple times.

Lots of rock epics are around the 7 min mark though.

I've got plenty of backup Phish jams in the 12 min+ range.

none of these examples are more epic than wreck of the edmund fitzgerald (6:32), but 10:00 seems pretty reasonable

I agree that 10 minutes should be the absolute minimum length for the epic poll, otherwise you could just nominate a whole bunch of normal, not-particularly-epic techno/jazz/prog/etc tunes. Though I'm fine with a 15 minute minimum too.

What is eligible only determines one end of what gets voted for. People also have to decide whether a track counts as "epic".

you could always allow epic rock tracks under 10 mins but make techno/jazz etc be over 15 I suppose. Obviously jazz and techno has a huge advantage otherwise.
