I posted a link to my Spotify playlist on Facebook and the only reaction I've gotten so far is "NO BIZARRE LOVE TRIANGLE????"

BLT's there, no? Maybe I chose a source that's not licensed in all territories.

I would have guessed there was more love out there for "The Him". Certainly my favourite Movement track behind "Dreams Never End". (Which I thought was obvious top 10 material, for that matter, so I'm quite clueless.) More colour and movement than other still-sounds-like-Joy-Division dirges like, say, "In a Lonely Place".

My cassette of PCL was a weird one! Black plastic with white print... I think it had Spanish legal on it.

Listened to Republic on my ride into work today. I think a lot of the lyrics to World were taken directly from meetings about the demise of Factory.

Looking at this record label makes me imagine what Technique would be like in Spanish...

I know I talk PC&L down in comparison to Movement, Technique and the 00s albums, but it really is a great album.

For me it's just so blisteringly self-evident that PCL is their magnum opus. And I'll always love 'Your Silent Face' above all. The first minute or so of that track is sublimity itself to me.

This was a great poll thread. I wasn't in the right frame of mind to make a ballot when it was voting time but I had a heavy deadline last weekend and spent all weekend listening to NO thanks to this thread. (The Recycle blog versions, naturally-- damn they sound so much better than the officials).

Used the Spotify thread to hear the 00s stuff I've never heard before. Not feeling it so far. There's no fatness to the sound and Barney's voice sounds anonymous. Will try harder.

If there's no fatness to the sound, you might want to double-check your speakers/headphone because you are likely missing the sub bass on the dancier songs. (Also I think Barney sounds "in tune" rather than "anonymous" but YMMV)

Full disclosure, his sound on 'Waiting For the Siren's Call' reminded me of the kid from Owl City and I freaked our and bolted

Had a lot of fun listening to the Spotify playlist yesterday. Great choices except my TOO LOW goes to Subculture. I would have thrown Waiting for the Sirens' Call a bone as well.

I'm listening to Brotherhood at the moment and can't help cracking into a smile at the way Bernard sings the word "key" on 'Weirdo'... also, I'm sure that this is the album that Bernard does the most Michael Jackson-style "whooping" on... it's a real whoopfest.

five joy division songs too, which apparently is pretty standard these days... I avoided looking at their recent setlists in order to enjoy the surprise. nothing from technique! and it wasn't in my top ten, but I was pleased they decided to play "world (the price of love)" and "here to stay." go see them if you get the chance! we danced from start to finish, so fun.

Ugh! Was given a ticket to the Austin show tonight and couldn't make it. Sadness.....

It is indeed, and yet I've always wished it were more like the London Polytechnic bootleg recording from 1985. By this I don't mean the official release should have Bernard's reference to the fact of ot being a benefit concert for the striking miners: "if you don't all move back a bit, next week we'll be doing a suffocation benefit", or to his spontaneously changing the lyrics: "When you reached out in your sleep; And you knew I wasn't there" to "When you reached out in your sleep; And felt my big fat
cock"

No, the reason this could & should have been so much greater, and fully deserving of A-side status, comes toward the exhilarating pure beauty of the extended coda (beginning at 3mins:28secs); a perfect blend of syths and guitars, that overwhelms with delight, and worthy of being placed, for this glorious culmination alone, the same exalted company as Some Distant Memory, or Every Little Counts.
