I'm asking for your Top 40 New Order songs.

Ballot part one (mandatory): Your Top 40 New Order tracks. Usual scoring method (1:50, 2:46, 3:43, 4:40…) will be applied. Please order your list with your #1 at the top and your #40 at the bottom. No need to number them but remember one on top. You can vote for less songs if you would like with your number one still getting the 50 points.

Ballot part two (optional): Your Top New Order albums. If you only want to list the first five then that is fine or you can list all nine of them.

it's good. it will take a while to figure out exactly how i want to rank 40 songs, which is a lot.

Looking forward to this one. Probably my favourite and most listened to band ever. 40 songs shouldn't be a problem at all, think the videos might be the hardest part of this poll.

The album tracks from this periods are terrific. Love the growly bass-y ones on the first side of Brotherhood ("Broken Promise," "Weirdo").

haha I was originally thinking "40? good god that's a lot" but it seems I won't have to resort to voting for "World In Motion" after all

also want to make me semi-regular plea to ppl to reconsider/relisten to the later albums because they are actually really, really good; I sort of feel like New Order as a band didn't really know what to do with an album until Technique, with Movement being something of a fluke occurrence

haven't decided yet, we can talk about it for a day or so and then make it official. i was leaning towards counting it as one song but then breaking it down in the post as to what mix was actually voted on.

I have to confess that I like tons of New Order songs -- maybe enough to fill out a 40-song ballot -- but most of them I can't tell by name. I have to hear them and say, "Oh right, that one."

(which I guess is in keeping with their whole aesthetic, so maybe I shouldn't feel bad.)

In the polls I've run, I've accepted ballots from people who want to just split the points evenly among all the tracks they vote for. It's no biggie, but I've never listed it as an option because it's not what I/we are generally going for.

It took a few years to understand -- let alone feel -- the kind of morning after lovebuzz that Sumner sings about.

I like the option of doing fourty — it won't be very hard for me to fill out that list.

And yes, 'Dream Attack' will be rather high on my ballot.

Revisiting New Order, I'm always struck by how much of a guitar (and bass) band they were. I think of them as part of the whole synth-linndrum wave, and they were, but that was just part of the picture.

Temptation '82 vs. '87, 7-inch vs. 12-inch, etc.

I do think this is one of the most extraordinary pieces of music ever made. The bass sequencer always put me in mind of the musical spaceship at the end of Close Encounters; the melody is beautiful, insistent and mysterious; and then Martin Hannett added what sounds like a swarm of cyber insects descending at the close.

wow Dream Attack is magical. As is Doubts Even Here, the penultimate track on Movement, it is so gorgeous. Vote it high people.

Just working on my list. I made a playlist of my favourite songs, got it down to 45 songs now. I really don't want to leave any of these songs out.

Everyone Everywhere will be on my list. Actually surprised how many songs I love that came after Technique. On my playlist I have thirteen songs from the last three albums.

As I've been thinking abt NO it strikes me how arbitrary my line is for lyrics that are too trite/corny/bad. Love Less is ok/Every Little Counts is not ok.

Yeah!! Ballot sent!! I just couldn't rank the 40 songs. Dreams Never End is my #1 followed by 1963 and Dream Attack. After that it would have taken me forever to rank the rest. Could I put Leave Me Alone before Sunrise? Where's Weirdo place? Temptation vs Touched by the Hand of God? Sleeper track is Mr. Disco. Hope it places high!! Most New Order video by long shot - Round and Round.

huh, listening to Lost Sirens again and I may have made a mistake in not considering "Hellbent" for my ballot

i am digging that album. just listening to it on spotify. there is nothing brilliant like eg bizarre love triangle of course but even the leftovers of their last album are pretty solid and mostly quite lovely. are they ever going to reform? hooky doing joy division and early new order albums live is really sad, recycling and reviving the past, what a waste of time.
