Not going to claim it, since I'm committed to running one at the end of the list right now, but throwing Hendrix out there as a suggestion.

four weeks pass...

When we do the Madonna poll can we do tracks, albums, and remixes too? There are soooooo many good Madonna remixes!

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 18 January 2013 00:02 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know what to do about remixes other than just count all versions of a song toward its placement and then break down the specifics during the rollout.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 January 2013 00:06 (thirteen years ago)

Well I meant like have a separate category just for remixes.

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 18 January 2013 00:24 (thirteen years ago)

Actually, I'm into that idea. I wasn't really sure what to do with them, but that would work. Like, a top 5 lps, a top 10 remixes, and then a top 50 of regular singles/tracks.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 18 January 2013 00:26 (thirteen years ago)

But no Immaculate Collection Q-Sound mixes, that's cheating.

Yo! MTV La Tengo (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 18 January 2013 00:31 (thirteen years ago)

Bruce voting: end of next week after 2012 Albums or wait until the 4th so everybody can towel off and have a post-reveal cigarette?

Johnny Fever, would you be interested in jumping up one spot and doing Madonna at 31 (hurr hurr) instead of 32? My freakin' work schedule is either all or nothing, and it looks like it's going to be on All just when the #31 voting period ends.

If it were up to you we'd all be eating tea and strumpets. (WilliamC), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:38 (thirteen years ago)

Sure, I can move to 31.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 25 January 2013 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

Madonna first! Madonna now!

Zero Dark 33⅓: The Final Insult (Eric H.), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:44 (thirteen years ago)

Bruce-Madonna-Miles-Fall is an interesting grouping in any order imo.

xp lol, you'll have to take that up with Jamie_ATP

If it were up to you we'd all be eating tea and strumpets. (WilliamC), Friday, 25 January 2013 16:47 (thirteen years ago)

THE BOSS SAYS NO. i'll get his one started after 2012 albums.

Jamie_ATP, Saturday, 26 January 2013 12:09 (thirteen years ago)

Cool! VegGrrrl would have rioted if Bruuuuuuuuce had been pushed back.

vote! (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 27 January 2013 09:12 (thirteen years ago)

William, how are you planning to do the Miles one? I've been through about thirty albums now, and still not sure I could elevate one track over another.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 27 January 2013 09:32 (thirteen years ago)

Haven't worked it all out yet, except that I know the ballots will be longer (but not too long). 20 is too few, 40 feels like too many, so I guess it'll be 30. I'll figure out the points allocation before voting starts. 1970-75 live stuff is a little tricky, and I think I will combine votes for, say, "Tatu Pt. 1" and "Tatu Pt. 2" if they show up that way. Will poll favorite albums as well, but not least-favorite tracks. I'm open to suggestions on that one.

My idea of revealing some of the results (like #16-75) in random order and then doing the top 15 in regular order sounds dumber the more I think about it. If it were a John Cage poll, it would be the ONLY way to go, but it seems gimmicky here.

If it were up to you we'd all be eating tea and strumpets. (WilliamC), Sunday, 27 January 2013 15:34 (thirteen years ago)

gonna start the Brucey voting thread on monday!

seems like interest in the artist-based threads is on the wane (or maybe we haven't done one for a while, but i haven't noticed any on sna in a couple months). would anyone be opposed to bumping these up the list? i'm pretty eager to hear these, particularly disco & italo

I'm not going to be able to listen to any Bruce 'til next week, but I'd like to do something to get into the mood beforehand. What should I do? I was thinking maybe breaking out some Sopranos.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 31 January 2013 22:25 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, Sopranos is a good call. Bit of Sylv!!!

I might see if there's a steelmill nearby that'd let me work the weekend, that'd be quite blue-collar

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 31 January 2013 22:37 (thirteen years ago)

see if any of the local street racing gangs will let you join in

As JF mentioned, we took a hiatus while best-of-year polling took place. We did it last year and it seemed to work well -- people seemed to come back to the artist polls in Feb. with more energy, so it will probably be an annual thing. Ten months on, two months off, and EOY voters can really focus their listening.

or a man named Sir. Dude's in every song.

hahah

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 1 February 2013 00:55 (thirteen years ago)

yeah it's cool i just don't personally have much interest in the artist-based polls and wanted to see if there was any will to move those up the slot but it's cool

flopson, Friday, 1 February 2013 22:30 (thirteen years ago)

Bumpity bump.
