i got in the car today right after a local rock station played "The View" and was having listeners call in and respond. the feedback was not very positive.

i guess i should give in and 'spoil' my suspense for the whole album and listen to this song huh

some dude, Monday, 26 September 2011 21:37 (fourteen years ago)

michaelianblack (Michael Ian Black) -- New Metallica/Lou Reed is like listening to your grandfather yell at you at the laundromat.

Listen, some dude, because, god forbid you get hit by a bus, you'll be on the pavement wondering what it sounded like.

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 26 September 2011 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

At least the song doesn't have all the clipping like Death Magnetic has. At least from what I can tell.

A. Begrand, Monday, 26 September 2011 22:53 (fourteen years ago)

clip it on me, bob

Just listened to this in the cold light of pretty buzzed.

Kind of great/everything I wanted.

Badmotorfinger Debate Club (MFB), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 05:00 (fourteen years ago)

you know. Despite all the table jokes, the horrible mix, the fact that it does sound like it belongs on the hobo with a shotgun OST with dialogue from the movie I get the impression that I'm going to come out (shudder) 'liking this'.

owenf, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 09:31 (fourteen years ago)

If Rick Rubin produced this, I'm guessing we would've heard. Too bad, because a Reed/Rubin photo would be nice.

Corn Maze to the Dark Side (Eazy), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 13:46 (fourteen years ago)

Turns out Rubin's already working on their next record, per Metal Injection.

Yep, no one else would sing it that way.

master musicians of jamiroquai (NickB), Tuesday, 27 September 2011 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

just got this update from FACEBOOK
"‎'The View' is Zane Lowe's Hottest Record In The World tonight on the BBC. He will be spinning it at 7:30 PM in the UK!"
do not know who the fuck Zane Lowe is! But he knows what's UP.

tylerw, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

Enjoy some love:

Is Zane Lowe joking?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 17:49 (fourteen years ago)

Alternately:

zane lowe c/d?!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 17:49 (fourteen years ago)

pro:

his manner is kind of amusing/lovable. It's like every record played is something you NEED TO KNOW ABOUT, he's kind of like a bossy schoolteacher, he barks out his spiel in this weird stentorian manner. It makes me laugh, plus I like his bizarre enthusiasm. I'd probably really like his show, but for:

con:

the music he plays is utter shit. Except once in a while he plays a decent metal track.

So I guess dud, really. You?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

tylerw, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

I thought those pros/cons were about Lou Reed.

In 30 years, will music snobs pretend to like "Lulu" the way they pretend to like "Metal Machine Music?"
