jan hammered's 'airport airport' mix is an all-time favorite, wasn't aware of these newer mixes but i'm excited to check them out. test pressing is a p amazing blog
the other new claremont release (besides almunia) looks pretty good too - torn sail - birds 12 inch . i want to hear more than a sample but the tiago remix seems like it could be epic
― a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 26 April 2011 19:10 (fifteen years ago)
I was actually listening to that Torn Birds on Youtube as i was reading this thread. It's a great track:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0UpGDQxqB8
I've got partial tracklistings for some of those mixes, including most of the tracks on the Jan Hammered ones if you want. The Cosmic Jane one is brilliant too.

Prins Thomas also has a new downtempo mix/comp that LN-CC was selling a month or two ago called cosmanova IV (apparently you can DL cosmanova II on the web, it's from a couple years ago)... totally balearic

They did post on their soundcloud page that they were going to release the tracklisting soon but that post seems to have been deleted now.
It think this is the most up to date tracklisting:
0:00 - ??2:54 - Luc Cousineau: La Premiere Fois7:16 - ??12:50 - McNeal & Niles - Quiet Isle17:57 - Don Cherry - Universal Mother23:50 - Sopwith Camel - Fazon27:17 - ?? 31:31 - Psychemagik - Valley Of Paradise (David Crosby 'Orleans' edit/rework)40:39 - ??47:45 - Dan 'The Man' Lacksman - Love You Every Day 52:06 - Gino Vanelli - People Gotta Move55:20 - Marcos Valle - Estrelar60:19 - Nightbirds - Undertow64:20 - Apelsin - Igatsus67:13 - Strand of Oaks - This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)72:05 - Dire Straits - Follow Me Home

Another super Balearic mix:
Moonboots - Atmospheric Conditions

― groovypanda, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 13:43 (fifteen years ago)
i'm still loving that psychemagik mix too, but it inspired me to seek out their edit of that talking heads song and tbh i've been listening to that a LOT more
and i've been impressed with moonboots mixes in the past, so i'll definitely give that one a dl
― a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:30 (fifteen years ago)
their edit of naive melody is terrific!
listening to this moonboots mix right now and enjoying it
― ban drake (the rapper) (max), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:35 (fifteen years ago)
nice stuff here, thanks guys.
― Suggest Banter (Local Garda), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:37 (fifteen years ago)
I think that balearic jam on the Psychemagik mix is Chris Fantasy's Fighting The Wind which is quite old and super rare.
It's on the Moonboots mix too.
― groovypanda, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 16:09 (fifteen years ago)
That's the 40.39 one then? Good work groovypanda. BTW I see that Psychemagik is playing at Horse & Groom this Friday.

L+PT and Emperor Machine remixes are really all I find myself revisiting on the Locussolus album.
― i wanna be yr rhizome (seandalai), Wednesday, 15 June 2011 10:33 (fifteen years ago)
Is it even an album? Feels like an EP padded out with a load of remixes but, yeah, kinda disappointing.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 June 2011 10:34 (fifteen years ago)

^^ its pretty much it, i guess. some sort of compilation of previous ep's with a bunch of remixes thrown in.

really feeling that Mythical Beasts release, Its a good sign on remixes when the Brennan Green one isn't the best.
― my opinionation (Hamildan), Wednesday, 15 June 2011 18:11 (fifteen years ago)
wrt the locussolus lp's weak reception, is it just a reaction to the lack of new material (which, come on, it's all fairly new right?) or do people actually not like the music all that much? because for my money, gunship, little boots, i want it, and next to you all tower over most everything else i've been listening to in this neighborhood for the past year or so & have been on repeat from day one. and throwdown is getting a far worse rap than it deserves from what i can tell - what IS the problem with taking sleazy disco rock into 90s malls?
disappointing from a 'i want more!!' perspective, maybe, but does anyone dispute the bassline in 'next to you'? or the solo in 'gunship'? or all 28 gloriously sweaty minutes of 'little boots'??

Not 100% sure whether this is the right thread, but the new Out of City album is some pretty neat space disco.

I really want Volume 1 of that to "turn up" because I want a decent version of Bubble Club's "Violet Morning Moon". The Lee Douglas remix of that Yuki Suzuki remix is real John Talabot vibes to my ears.

I actually did purchase the track off iTunes as an individual track but it still sounds like it's been cut off at the end, there's a little outro arpeggio that just stops seemingly midway :(
