Hey, it's not like I'm not accustomed to having my likes be outliers around the rolling pop thread and I accept what you guys are saying and even half-agree with it, but I still think that song is tits.

also her bio trumpets that she's written for timberlake, aguilera, rihanna - been doing a bit of research and it seems all of these songs must never have been used as they don't show up on any databases. imagine the calibre of song that was CUT from xtina's bionic!

i think "Do It Like A Dude" is a perfectly good title/premise for a pop song

i think the mysticism regarding this song fell apart when miley revealed that she'd never heard a jay-z song

"like a boy" is a million times better because ciara actually sings about real male/female roles in relationships and what's considered "acceptable" behaviour for men and women, while jessie j reduces it all to lame signifiers and gender essentialism

also "like a boy" doesn't sound like ass

"Do It Like A Dude" is a much funnier and more evocative phrase than the boring Ciara/Beyonce song titles (which also are a totally different premise)

damn you guys are right--this is one terrible song

I liked the song that was in the top 77 countdown, and the song with Magnetic Man, but what I've heard since I really have no strong feelings about.

I haven't heard Katy B yet but I am certain I would like her more than Jessie J

Diddy's group Dirty Money has 2 female singers (which makes Skylar Grey's appearance on "Coming Home" especially superfluous) -- she's not in the Diddy video but that is her in the Dre video

also aside from the hilarious unintentional robyn punchline in the first paragraph, perp's jessie j review was good & connecting her w/ rebecca black in the last paragraph lifts the review to greater heights than "necessary hit job"

also, you know, i was driving home today w/ the windows down & there was a nice breeze going and wiz's "roll up" came on the radio & damn if it didn't sound kinda perfect

i didn't really have anything invested in wiz pre-"black & yellow" so i don't really care that he went full pop & it goes w/o saying that from an aesthetic standpoint getting w/ stargate is a much better look than alex da kid or bruno mars or dr. luke

both the stargate/wiz songs have cool bridges imo -- i always thought that the "black & yellow" bridge was the best runners beat since "cash flow"

"The Lazy Song" is terrible but i'm taking some comfort in the arrival of a Bruno Mars single that i can't imagine shooting to #1

Oh man! I am not a rolling pop regular, but I wanted to be that person! I've meant to post about that song for at least a month. She seems like she was grown in a petri dish, but the song's not THAT bad. It's not as bad as that song that samples "Old Man".

wouldn't a pop star grown in a petri dish have a good voice and maybe no skunk hair? the song really is THAT bad imo.

agreed re: "roll up." i can see why people might call it a slight song, but to me it sounds perfect for this time of year
