So Agollach and Cobalt are my favourite discoveries from this list so far. Still haven't tried absolutely everything.

God, Coverdale is a long way from "Burn" that's all I'm gonna say. What the fuck with that wine ad.

I've also realised that I find modern Doom Metal quite boring.

Monotheist is definitely getting overrated on here.

I'm sure many would say that about other albums in the list.

I dunno, there are plenty of albums in the top 20 that don't do much for me--but I recognize their canonical stature.

Monotheist is AT BEST the 3rd or 4th greatest Celtic Frost album. I think Monotheist was getting votes from folks who got on board late and never sought out the back catalog.

Maybe, but they still clearly like it enough to vote it high. In the tracks poll I noticed some people hating the early celtic frost tracks more than most things in the poll due to the vox/backing vox.

I, personally, like Monotheist as much as the others. I have a different favourite between them every week. They're just a class act and I thought it was good they did so well after the slagging they took on the tracks poll.

Yeah, I'm still baffled that Into The Crypt Of Rays never made it.

I've really gotten into the first four Danzig albums in recent weeks. I hadn't heard anything but "Mother '93" before the poll.

nice list, i guess. a little bit unbalanced, but that's always going to be the case with ilm. still, a little bit baffling to see yob's ENTIRE catalogue represented at the expense of so many metal greats. and i never did understand the appeal of 'monotheist', which while tow-truck heavy, doesn't come close to topping any of CF's first few releases.

the main revelation for me was slough heg, who i'd only ever noticed previously because of their ridiculous name. but the music itself turns out to be rather good.

its not like YOB have loads of albums y'know. Anyway, not all made it (the demos album was nowhere)

And yes, (Lord Weird) Slough Feg are great. Cant wait to hear the new album.

Glad you liked the poll. No doubt if it was held this week we would get different results, because this is ILM. But you cant accuse it of resembling a Kerrang or Metal Hammer canon list, and that's a damn good thing IMO.

checking out the stats now. sky valley would have been right up there with a few more votes. interesting. i would have slotted it somewhere in my top 5.

yeah, ilm is full of types who are constantly listening to and discovering new albums, so tastes and preferences don't lie stagnant. thus you get unexpected and varied results in polls like these. it's part of the beauty of the place.
