*looks up at start of thread* Man, I had forgotten how much Spencer loathed him! It's like he turned into me vis-a-vis Justin for a second. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 24 January 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

No no no it's like the end of Akira; soon enough the Dave Matthews Band : Name Your Reasons Why They Are So Bad & Hated. thread will become huge and tumescent and consume us all in rapturous agony, ILX will be subsumed into one giant Dave Matthews flap and all known life will cease.

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Saturday, 24 January 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

yay =)

Allison (Allison), Saturday, 24 January 2004 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Now if I could really believe that was Allison...

"1490 older messages are hidden". Man, what a world!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Saturday, 24 January 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i just would like to say "the last great american band" has left the building and are boarding their flight to Irrelevance, NJ. where many hope they will stay.

i HAVE heard the dave solo.
and i even gave it 4-7 spins.
and you know what?
it still smacks of someone who really shouldn't have made any albums, but still managed to fanagle a career out of a one trick pony. and he's gonna be in a kids movie?!!! defiling the youth further.

and that article in rolling stone really set me straight. it's hard to be dave. as i'm sure it's hard to be ani.
wait, no...it's not hard to be either of them!
those filthy rich richies!!!! trustafarians!!!!!!!
CLASS WAR.
eh.
or not.

eedd, Saturday, 24 January 2004 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yea, I wonder if we can bait Ani DiFranco fans with their unshaven armpits and birkinstocks onto here to defend that cow.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Saturday, 24 January 2004 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a rude thing to say about Tim Finney!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 24 January 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

well, if Ani fans are anything like DMB fans (and they sadly ARE) it wouldn't be hard to blow a thread up about her.
in fact, it theoretically could overshadow this one...
hmmmm....
me thinks that could vaguely entertaining.

eedd, Saturday, 24 January 2004 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim does shave his pits, so I heard. As does Nickalicious.

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Saturday, 24 January 2004 21:49 (twenty-two years ago)

In fact sometimes they shave each other's pits, while singing "Adam & Eve".

Llahtuos Kcin (Nick Southall), Saturday, 24 January 2004 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

THE. THREAD. THAT. WOULD. NOT. DIE.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 24 January 2004 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it was "Ebony & Ivory", only they changed it to "Ivory & Hippie".

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 24 January 2004 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread will outlast humanity itself!!
and then will become stagnant as all the respone-bots keep posting inane responses like-
"d00d, fuk 4ll y4'll!!11! F4GZ~!!1!!"

and whatnot and whathave you.

aliens will crack out primitive binary ways and discover that this sole thread will have continued without human intervention for over 1000 years. thus, the aliens will also find DMB repulsive if only by default, due to this thread.

and so, the cosmos will be saved. all found DMB cd's will be promptly destroyed, so as to not sully the alien races' evolved sense of taste.
humanity will be remembered fondly for at least knowing what was truly crap.

Alright, keep the cheapshots coming.

Allison (Allison), Sunday, 25 January 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to say you're pretty patient here, Allison. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 January 2004 02:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Might as well be, I don't stand much of a chance.

Allison (Allison), Sunday, 25 January 2004 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It could very well be time to start a new thread, ya herd.

ModJ (ModJ), Sunday, 25 January 2004 05:41 (twenty-two years ago)

THE. THREAD. THAT. WOULD. NOT. DIE.

Maybe someone should lock it. I mean, people are going to keep posting because there is an endless amount of reasons why they are hated.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 25 January 2004 05:45 (twenty-two years ago)

...all of them correct, btw...

ModJ (ModJ), Sunday, 25 January 2004 05:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Well yeah!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 25 January 2004 05:58 (twenty-two years ago)

A co-worker of mine recently got a DMB-related tatoo on her ankle.

morris pavilion (samjeff), Sunday, 25 January 2004 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

That's terrible!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 25 January 2004 07:24 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, blow me.

Allison (Allison), Sunday, 25 January 2004 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Calling your band "The Dave Matthews Band" after "Dave Matthews" is like prefacing everything you say with "We have no ideas, but...".

I'm buying you a pizza.

Stupid (Stupid), Sunday, 25 January 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

there needs to be threads like this!
i say, more bands need people to tell them when enough is enough.
for DMB, that should've been around 1996.
possibly sooner based on the amount of bad impersonators that have been spawned in their evil wake...

ok, not evil, just dumb.

eedd, Sunday, 25 January 2004 22:42 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like comparing Backstreet Boys to George Bush...there is no comparisson.
This comment needs its own thread.

sym (shmuel), Sunday, 25 January 2004 22:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Both provide a funky new perspective on either bubblegum tradition or foreign policy.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 25 January 2004 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Both would benefit from the nailgun treatment.

sym (shmuel), Sunday, 25 January 2004 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

both are severely averse to significant others (girlfriends; Western countries) wanting it in a way that they are unwilling to hear about

Grammys to include Beatle tribute

The Beatles' debut on the Ed Sullivan Show attracted 73m viewers
Sting will be among artists staging a special tribute to The Beatles during Sunday evening's Grammy Awards ceremony, it has been announced.
The tribute will mark the 40th anniversary of the Fab Four's first US television appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Rock singer DAVE MATTHEWS, R&B star Pharrell Williams and country singer Vince Gill will also join the tribute.

Other stars to perform at the Grammys include Prince and Justin Timberlake.

The Beatles' tribute marks a landmark event in US television history - when the group appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show on 9 February 1964.

Beatlemania

The appearance is credited as the moment when Beatlemania crossed the Atlantic, with an estimated 73 million people tuning in to see the show, with crime rates reportedly dropping in US cities during the broadcast.

Sting is among musicians lined-up for the tribute

The group performed I Want To Hold Your Hand, She Loves You, All My Loving, Till There Was You and I Saw Here Standing There.

They went on to make three more appearances on the show.

This year's Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles - the 46th - will also include live appearances by the Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce Knowles.

Knowles is among the leading contenders with six nominations - the same number as rap star Jay-Z and R&B-hip-hop act Outkast.

Timberlake, Eminem and Missy Elliott are among nine artists with five nominations each.

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja (aja), Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

the smell of this thread is honking up the whole board......someone put it in the trash!

pete s, Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:09 (twenty-two years ago)

But I want milk and cookies!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja has the Right Idea.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I guess so.

But seriously...

What kind of cookies?!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

haters of this thread are so clue-lacking - if I ever get a tattoo, it's gonna say 3299377

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not:

Many people agree the Dave Matthews Band SUCKS!!!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 5 February 2004 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Not me!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 5 February 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't say everyone.

You like the Dave Matthews Band?! How can you?

Aja (aja), Thursday, 5 February 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Because their songs are catchy and they're all, like, ridiculous virtuosos on their respective instruments. Especially their drummer, Carter Beauford. That guy belongs in some kind of drummer's hall-of-fame. Ever heard the live version of "Lie in Our Graves"? Jeez, how the FUCK can ANYBODY play that fast?

This thread is funny.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 5 February 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

You're crazy!

Aja (aja), Thursday, 5 February 2004 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

What kind of cookies?!
erm ... how about chocolate chip? i could also make some nice banana/caramel muffins.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Thursday, 5 February 2004 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate bananas. Love caramel though.
