Sorry, ..."NOT on the orginal of Entreat".

Flowersdie (Beril the peril), Friday, 9 October 2009 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

Could a triple CD version of DISINTEGRATION be enough to pull me out of the woodwork?

Oh, it certainly could.

Matt M., Friday, 9 October 2009 14:25 (sixteen years ago)

It could, couldn't it.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 9 October 2009 14:35 (sixteen years ago)

21ST ANNIVERSARY EDITION

My first thought was "This can't be right". My second was "God, I'm old".

o. nate, Friday, 9 October 2009 15:41 (sixteen years ago)

I have to admit that I've never heard ENTREAT. How does it stack up to the performance of the album from TRILOGY?

Matt M., Friday, 9 October 2009 16:19 (sixteen years ago)

Trilogy's take is definitely stellar (and arguably even better than the originals at points) but Entreat is often no less powerful and has two OMG performances -- the title track and, as Dan rightly likes to note, a version of "Prayers for Rain" where Robert cuts loose on his vocals towards the end in an honestly jaw-dropping performance.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 9 October 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

Entreat was the first time I heard the "Prayers For Rain" howl, since I missed the Prayer Tour, and it seriously is amazing how long and how strongly he holds that note.

Ooo. Have to watch this after the MC5 documentary finishes up. Can't. Pause. It.

Matt M., Friday, 9 October 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)

lol 20 years later I now hear hitches in his voice at points but this was life-altering when I was 16

I cannot wait. Wow, I also feel old.

Marcus Brody Ta-Dow! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Friday, 9 October 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

I am SO excited for this. I've been waiting a long time. Now if can get the Wish reissue sometime in the next year, I may finally feel complete.

Pete Baumann, Friday, 9 October 2009 20:22 (sixteen years ago)

Wow. That's something, it is. Faster, meaner, harder, whateverer.

Matt M., Saturday, 10 October 2009 02:44 (sixteen years ago)

Now did everyone get their copy of the live 'box set' as such that was put together via here...?

I have to get the 'Faith' reissue...the version of "Carnage Visors" I have is one my friend ripped from a very well-loved cassette.

girl moves (Abbott), Sunday, 3 January 2010 05:32 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, I really enjoyed that piece on the making of Disintegration, although he's obviously holding back a lot of stuff

spiny doughboy (baaderonixx), Sunday, 3 January 2010 10:43 (sixteen years ago)

he's quite frank about how beastly they all were to Lol which is strange. I want to know what happened on the tour though.

SO. The 'Entreat' extended CD is just the album with a few more tracks on? Shame they couldn't have done a CD of the *entire gig* from that night. 35 songs, 3 hours long.. that would have been ace. Not that i'm complaining or anything. Disintegration has always sounded muffled and a bit muddy to my ears so i'm intrigued to hear a remaster.

Are any of these lost Disintegration era songs (Delirious Night etc) well known amongst Cure heads for being particularly amazing?

piscesx, Monday, 1 March 2010 23:35 (sixteen years ago)

delayed til May. *yawn*

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Tuesday, 2 March 2010 08:52 (sixteen years ago)

http://www.thecure.com/blog/default.aspx?nid=25518

The disc (part 2) also contains four unreleased songs: "Noheart", "Esten", "Delirious Night" and a cover of Judy Collins’ "Pirate Ships", the latter a solo performance by Smith that was recorded for, but ultimately not included on, Rubáiyát, a 1990 album celebrating Elektra Records’ 40th anniversary.

Bee OK, Thursday, 1 April 2010 00:06 (sixteen years ago)

i don't think i have heard any of those four songs before, looking forward to this is a big way.

Bee OK, Thursday, 1 April 2010 00:07 (sixteen years ago)

But it worries me that two of those new songs say "(Vocal)" after them. Does that mean vocals only?

No.

"Pirate Ships" is terrible, like "this must be a prank"-level bad

Very very very very excited for this!

he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Saturday, 1 May 2010 20:20 (sixteen years ago)

this is being delayed yet again in the U.S. new release date is now June 8, 2010. this is around my birthday so it's alright for me! hope the price comes down from $31.99 however.

Bee OK, Friday, 7 May 2010 06:33 (sixteen years ago)

ooooooooh. There was so much material that they couldn't all get it on one bonus disc, so they're streaming loads of extra material online here:

sweet

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Friday, 14 May 2010 10:19 (sixteen years ago)

VERY nice -- I know what I'm listening to when I get into work. Is that the 'Tienanmen Square' version of "Faith" at the end there?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 14 May 2010 12:40 (sixteen years ago)

So that's why he says "this is for everyone that died today in China" - thanks, and yes, it is.

StanM, Friday, 14 May 2010 13:09 (sixteen years ago)

The drumless, almost folky version of 2 Late is EXCELLENT (what a shame that song didn't make the album).

Marco Damiani, Friday, 14 May 2010 13:30 (sixteen years ago)

They will be streaming a full live show (Dallas) from that era starting May 24th on that site as well, by the way.

StanM, Friday, 14 May 2010 13:41 (sixteen years ago)

wtf

why am I enjoying the demo version of "Closedown" way more than I've ever enjoyed the final, released song

"Babble" instrumental = awesome

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Friday, 14 May 2010 14:26 (sixteen years ago)

Wish I had Flash player at work so I could listen to these songs before tonight... jealous!

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 14 May 2010 14:30 (sixteen years ago)

I do like, um, "Fuknnotfunk," it's like they were still wondering "Wait are we going Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me again with this album or not?"
