Honestly, I thought this WAS outkast, but I own all the albums and it's not on there. I vaguely remember the video with the bassist from Pearl Jam hangin' with the band.
I'm gonna check on that nappy roots suggestion.

― Mark G, Thursday, 4 June 2009 22:06 (seventeen years ago)
Wouldn't the "google leads me nowhere" mean there's a lot of misheard words? So some of those lyrics aren't right. Let's see...
http://www.mp3lyrics.org/m/mack-10/do/ ("everything is everything" would have to be "do the damn thang" for this one, no Fleetwoods or chickens) ?

― pending echeques (forksclovetofu), Friday, 5 June 2009 01:33 (seventeen years ago)
Pretty sure those lyrics are right. Pretty sure stone gossard was in the video or at least on stage for a live version. I want to say it's Outkast. It's not outkast. This has been bothering me for five years.

Is it Baby D, Slammin Cadillac Doors?
― dad a, Friday, 5 June 2009 02:29 (seventeen years ago)
Nope.It really did sound like an Outkast track, not bassy at all.I can actually sing the song in my head and it sounds like Sleepy Brown is singing. The cadence for the chorus is:
Everythang is EverythangIt's all goodIn my drop top FleetwoodRollin' through the hoodEverythang is Everythang(garbled garbled), it ain'tNothin' but a chicken wangShawty do ya thang
― pending echeques (forksclovetofu), Friday, 5 June 2009 05:32 (seventeen years ago)
Seriously, this has been bothering me for about a decade now. It's my litmus test as "the thing I can't find out about on the internet".
I mean, I couldn't very well have made that up can I? I remember googling five years ago to find out what the fuck a drop top fleetwood was, cuz I don't know car culture so I don't think I would guess my way to that. Maybe I dreamed it.

Don't be too sure.
A while ago, I dimly remembered a Dylan style take off of "Ilkley Moore baht at", but all I could find was Bill Oddie's version which was a take on Joe Cocker's style. About a month later I remembered. It was me, one drunken evening...

OK, live performance on TV with someone from Pearl Jam on or near the stage: does this 1992 Lollapalooza lineup help?
Main Stage: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush
Side Stage: Jim Rose Circus, Sharkbait, Archie Bell, Porno for Pyros, Basehead, Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Sweaty Nipples, Arson Garden, Seaweed, Seam, Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E., The Look People, Stone Temple Pilots, The Vulgar Boatmen, Truly, Skrew, Tribe, The Authority, Samba Hell, Café Tacuba, Rage Against the Machine

no, it was on MTV in the early 90's; in-studio live show as i recall though I might be crazy. I guess Boo Yaa Tribe is a possibility?

On September 5, 2008 the rapper was hospitalized and placed on life-support after he collapsed when his kidneys failed during a game of pickup basketball. On November 22, 2008, Breed reportedly died in his sleep while at a friend's home in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

― why delonge face? (unregistered), Thursday, 30 June 2011 14:31 (fourteen years ago)
it could be in my head! I don't think there WAS a video; my hazy memory was watching this in high school (which is wrong, since this came out in 99 and i woulda been a college dropout by then so that's even weirder) on some sort of a live show with stone gossard sitting in with a rap group for a hotlanta style performance on MTV
― Don't start the chain you know? (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 30 June 2011 14:45 (fourteen years ago)

The first time I ever heard Outkast was when Stone Gossard played "Ain't No Thang" on the radio when I was 14.
"Alright. That was - that was Weapon of Choice and they're out on Loosegroove records, which is a label I'm starting here in Seattle. And right now we're gonna listen to something else - we're gonna be playing some more Loosegroove stuff later in the night - but right now I really feel like we need to go to Atlanta and play some Outkast. This one goes out to Dirk and Lonnie. See ya."http://www.monkeywrenchradio.org/spr/19950108.html

I know I might be late but I too have been trying to figure out who sings that song for almost the past 10 years. I first heard the song maybe my sophomore or junior year in high school. It went like "Anything you wanna do, it's all good ridin drop top fleetwood thru the hood, everything is everything....(something,something) nothing but a chicken wing, shorty do your thang". To me it sounded like Jazzy Phae was on the track singing that hook. So I too would like to know & I'm a big music head...been that way since birth. But um yeah the hook keeps playing very clear in my head & it does sound like a down south song similar to Tela's "Bring em out" song.
