I do not wear "most pants", because I have standards. One of my standards is comfort.

I have his one pair of jeans that's so awkward-fitting that my genitalia goes numb when I wear them and am sitting down. and yet when I stand up they're practically sliding off of my hips

Though I do admire how the young women of today have managed to wear a cute version of sweatpants out and about and made that the norm.

since i had my cloaca installed in '08 i've enjoyed the luxury of freely picking and choosing from across the entire spectrum of pants, safe in the knowledge that everything from a jegging to a harem pant will be flattering AND comfortable

I'm generally pro pants but have been going through a not comfortable phase due to a combination of weight gain and testical sag.

Only one rule in our household: As soon as we're in the door, the pants come _off_.

Male/comfy. Dropping a few pounds the last couple of years has made a big difference.

I stopped wearing pants in favor of shorts three months ago and probably won't wear pants again until November.

i wore pants all fucking day today, in the intense heat, on the roof, in direct sunlight, driving 45 minutes there, 20 minutes there, then 30 minutes home, then walking the dog to the opposite edge of our usual route then running the dog all the way home because she was terrified by the fireworks. then i took off my pants and put them in the bin because mustard flew out of my mouth while eating a veggie dog and landed in the upper inner thigh area of my pants.

I think levis 511s changed and are not as slim as before. The bagginess is compounded by the fact that they stretch out over time and I keep needing to tighten my belt. Going to try to purchase some other pants tomorrow -- maybe 510s, maybe another brand altogether.

I actually think something about the shape of my torso makes it hard for pants to stay up.

I was on the fence here until someone raised the prospect of shorts. Count me in for Team Pants, swamp ass is a small price to pay for not being seen in shorts.

Much rather have my legs covered than un-, yeah, unless actually swimming. And IME, if your pants are uncomfortably tight, that means you are wearing the wrong size, wrong cut, or both.*

And because I am a burb dad who gives exactly no fucks, I can just find like one pair of comfortable chino-type thingies and just buy them in every color.

yeah i was kinda jesting with my post. For most of my life I've preferred pants, I feel like there's some stigma around shorts when you're in your 30s, and pants do look more pro.

IDR posting this. But yes, in my experience it's less the crotch and more the waistband.

If a Banana Republic/Land's End/LL Bean no-iron chino is comfortable in tan, it will also be comfortable when purchased in navy, olive, charcoal, and (if you're feeling daring) bone. Five or six pairs will last me quite a while.

They can dress up or down as needed and they're fairly neutral colors. Most days, literally all I do is choose a t-shirt; if I need to go to an office I just put on a dress shirt or polo shirt instead. Occasionally I will buy jeans, but have rarely found any that are comfortable.

Some time in the vicinity of 50 I gave up on vanity about my legs and allowed myself to be seen in shorts whenever the occasion moved me.

I wear shorts at home, but the vicinity of 50 was when my pale spindly hairless stems got too gross to go out without me changing into jeans.

Mr. 'boto, "most pants" may or may not be uncomfortable. I haven't worn all or even most of them, so I don't know.

All pants that I buy and wear are extremely comfortable. Otherwise I would neither buy nor wear them.

My main objection to shorts is having to slather on the white housepaint several times a day to stop my legs from turning red and crispy; Aussie sun is fierce.

As for the trousers thing, very much in the camp of 'if hey are uncomfortable you are doing it wrong' although with a side of 'the clothing industry is seriously fucked up about sizing'. I've got trousers in my wardrobe that range from 34-40 inches in nominal waist size, some of which is cut and waistband position, some of which is wait change, some of which is just the vagueries of clothing and the rise of vanity sizing.

Happy to have lost a bunch of weight this year, though; being closer to what the clothing industry considers nominal makes things a lot easier.

since i was a teen i have preferred 70s slacks, "grandpa pants", the kind you see in thrift stores that may have come with a cheap suit at one time and are now to be had for under 4 dollars. maybe they are by Haggar. maybe they have a ticket in the pocket that says "Inspected by number 56". maybe the legs are too long and they drag on the floor around my feet. GOOD. i love it.
