I’m still don’t know if killfile is an actual thing or just an ilx expression. Like can I actually make particular posters disappear from my ilx experience? That would be super helpful

it is a real thing, but annoying on regular ILX desktop since you can't bookmark a killfiled post - the zing version is better and much easier

I think I'm in the unfamiliar position of defending Josh there - of course people are free to do the bored teenaged no caps thing, but if you no-caps a name that is also regular words, and people think you mean the regular words, I don't think you get to get pissy about it?

there's a former ilxor who used to have my current name. they took it a little personally when i picked this name. my understanding is that they were banned during one of my absences. i didn't get along with them, and to the extent that any particular poster is responsible for my leaving, their behavior was part of the reason for that particular absence. i got nothing against them personally.

i'm not aware of any other kates but i don't know most people's names here haha, i figure it's easier to refer to people by their usernames or display names. if someone's posting as "Karl Malone" i think of them as Karl Malone.

I was fortunate to know ex ILXor Admiral Lingbert IRL. He referred Mr. Jaq to a temp agency and would get a bonus if he signed on. It caused a mess when I assured Mr. Jaq the admiral's name was <actual first name> Lingbert. It was only that in my mind.

Not quite what this thread is for, but: Is Mary W00ds Mildl1nger an ILXor? She has several ILXors in her FB friends list, including me. I'm asking because she had a normal FB timeline until April (after about two months silence). She posted a certificate in crypto trading with her name on it, and ever since then her account has been nothing but crypto spam.

it happens to so many people I know and becomes hard to get it back because the process to report someone's basically stolen your account is difficult, not easy to find, and often doesn't result in getting it back.

recently I saw a status from someone where I was like "who in the FUCK is this, I know I never friended this person", it was a lady who I'd never even heard of and was posting completely inane things, and then I checked Messenger and she had written "give me your number" like six years ago.

and in digging further I realized this was actually originally my friend's account (he was a 50-something Black man) and a 20-something white woman took over the account and kept it permanently, even changing the name on it.

I think she took it over in like...2018 and is still using the stolen account! i don't even get what was gained by stealing it
