If I hadn’t been prepared by years of jokes about Trump wanting to sleep with Ivanka, I would find this shocking

Alito Bit of Soap (President Keyes), Thursday, 29 June 2023 00:34 (three years ago)

it's not shocking but it's disgusting

treeship., Thursday, 29 June 2023 00:38 (three years ago)

well, yeah

He really does think he's some kind of aristocrat. (Take that how you want.)

See what you did there.

yeah kind of messed up that the last President is openly talking about fucking his own daughter and the collective reponse is "yeah we already knew that, in fact everyone knew that when he was elected President, and it won't stop him from getting elected again"

frogbs, Thursday, 29 June 2023 02:56 (three years ago)

Kind of a return to form for this country

fair but so uncool beliefs here (Eric H.), Thursday, 29 June 2023 03:10 (three years ago)

Remember, everyone side-eye joked about Saville for years and the truth ended up being WORSE.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Thursday, 29 June 2023 04:21 (three years ago)

He was known to be a corpse-fucker with sanctioned access to at least one hospital morgue for a decade or two before his death, I missed it if something worse came out

(and Trump repeatedly talked on radio, TV and to print reporters decades before these secret tapes abt wanting to fuck his daughter)

serving bundt (sic), Thursday, 29 June 2023 06:10 (three years ago)

yeah fair enough, I guess I forgot some ppl knew about the worst stuff (or suspected)

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Thursday, 29 June 2023 07:02 (three years ago)

This is a weird convo to be having but many of savile’s crimes were worse than necrophilia

Grandall Flange (wins), Thursday, 29 June 2023 07:29 (three years ago)

wins otm

Daniel_Rf, Thursday, 29 June 2023 10:06 (three years ago)

(yes, weird convo but)

Worse in terms of impact on victims, but wildly more precedented wrt being a common and actively supported perk of fame / power / money / monstrous self-confidence. It’s very, very unusual for public figures to have free rein to morgues, with it being reported in fun celebrity gossip newsletters, and (horribly) less so for those around them to treat access to large numbers of vulnerable young people as something to be blind-eyed, giggled about, or reinforced.

Both were known during his lifetime, though, to the degree that he was asked on camera about the more commonly tolerated one. Likewise, it’s unusual for celebrities to publicly talk for decades about how very horny they are for their daughters, but “jokes” about Trump being horny for his daughter are in fact based on his history of saying “I am very horny for my daughter.”

(Square the circle with Trump telling interviewers “Jeffrey Epstein is a cool guy that I admire, who fucks a lot of minors.”)

golly

"Prosecutors are now prepared to 'stack' an 'additional 30 to 45 charges' on top of the 37-count indictment brought against Mr Trump" using new evidence including additional recordings "which reveal Mr Trump making incriminating statements."https://t.co/CHZK0YQLIB

This is the key bit:

could do so in a number of different venues

ie very likely New Jersey due to Bedminster.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 29 June 2023 19:25 (three years ago)

I mean at this point his entire gambit to avoid/overturn conviction is to get elected president. They can charge him with 3,000 things, it doesn't matter, he's all in. He'll just keep doubling down, playing up the victim angle.

That won't cut any ice with state charges in, e.g., Georgia.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 29 June 2023 19:29 (three years ago)

So are we saying this possible upcoming round of more indictments may literally be his New Jersey?

I'm not saying it's a well-thought-out strategy. That's not his thing. He's just running on sheer bullish instinct — it more or less hasn't failed him yet. People have told him he's fucked 10,000 times in his life and he's always just said, "I'm not fucked, YOU'RE fucked," and here he is at 77 running neck and neck for a second term as president.

The best thing for all concerned would be for him just to die.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:01 (three years ago)

I have no fucking doubt that this piece of shit will get a second term. Biden will tell us he’s so disappointed, but that “staying high while they go low” will continue to be the best path forward. Always be a good sport!

beamish13, Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:11 (three years ago)

Jesus, I hope not.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:13 (three years ago)

beamish13, Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:16 (three years ago)

If he dies without suffering, I guess that's all right. But I would prefer having him die after a deeply unpleasant period in which he has to be faced with the consequences of his actions, and in which he has to contemplate his myriad sins against taste and against humanity

ymmv

The best thing would be for him to get the nomination, pick some weirdo for his running mate, then die and let the GOP tear itself apart trying to decide who was going to replace him on the ticket.

pomplamoose and circumstance (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:26 (three years ago)

xxp I think he is completely immune to facing the consequences of his actions or contemplating his sins. I don't think his brain is even able to work that way.

I would actually love for him to have a massive, paralyzing stroke, be forced to spend the rest of his days watching Obama's roasting of him at the 2011 Correspondents' Dinner on an endless loop, and to die alone and in complete obscurity.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:26 (three years ago)

pomplamoose and circumstance (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:27 (three years ago)

Is a presidential candidate even required to have a running mate?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:28 (three years ago)

Technically, no. It's just become customary. Pretty sure the original founding assumption was that the runner-up would become vice president.

pomplamoose and circumstance (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:30 (three years ago)

The independents who delivered his first term think he smells like shit now.. it's only his faithful now, and there's just not enough of them

there's losing and there's an 8-1 SCOTUS advantage and a President actively encouraging people to discriminate against minorities and gay people and issuing anti-trans Executive orders

sad Mings of dynasty (Neanderthal), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:36 (three years ago)

if he gets the nomination there's always a chance, but if he couldn't win as the incumbant I'm not sure how he's gonna win after losing once, inciting a riot, and then getting charged with 400 felonies. like who voted Biden in 2020 that is now gonna go, "eh, Trump deserves another chance"

frogbs, Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:37 (three years ago)

When he gets the nomination

Who else is there? Fucking Mittens AGAIN? Abbott and De Santis don’t mean shit outside of their states. There are no women vying for it

beamish13, Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:40 (three years ago)

Much like 2020, can't underestimate the absolute hate and terror that would drive Democrats to the polls

omar little, Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:40 (three years ago)

Not that Trump doesn't have some enthusiasm in his base of course but I don't see it being better for him this time around

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Thursday, 29 June 2023 20:42 (three years ago)

just seems if the GOP has any savviness at all they'd know they have to move past Trump, they've been consistently getting their asses kicked since 2016 and having their frontrunner be a guy who is facing trial for like a hundred felony counts while the primaries are going on seems like a surefire way to get your ass kicked again. but somehow I think DeSantis would do even worse!
