i found this place after i had registered ireallylovemusic in August 2000 as i then thought 'hang on ... what about 'ilovemusic' ? ', and boom, ended up here.

I found I Love Books in early 2004 from a Bookslut post. First posts in February as an unregistered user then signed up as Jaq. Poked around the other boards a bit, decided I didn't love music THAT much, decided I Love Everything was terrifying. Started meeting fellow ILXors occasionally in Seattle and eventually embraced the majority of the boards.

you also got an awesome logo out of it!

No idea how I first got here but probably because I was a hopeless Belle and Sebastian stan

I stumbled on ILM first, it took me awhile to realize there was other tabs.. but the first thread I really noticed was a streaming photo-thread of a guy having some kind of mental health episode on an alley roof in San Francisco, and we were getting photo updates every few minutes as the police tried to get him down.. I thought that was pretty darn cool

i think i saw ilm on a list of interesting music websites circa 2006/2007. i believe it was in entertainment weekly of all places. i tried to find the article but not easily available online. wonder what else was on the list back then?

Oh I am! Currently working on a mural in Calgary and recently did a bunch of branding work for a B&B outside of Toronto I’m very proud of!

My contibution to the Geir ragging bandwagon was Come to Hongro which I'm still quite proud of.

LOL And a google search shows me Geir uses it as his Twitter Profile pic. Thats hilarious.

Same here. We're ILX twins! I lurked a few more months before posting, though. And I'm still mostly a lurker.

I Love Books has added much value to my reading life. I find it's the most reliable and consistent board on ILX, though I Love Hoops comes close.

I've reached a milestone in ilx-ing in the last week or so. for the first time since i registered, i had a dream involving an ilxor. shut up, it wasn't that kind of dream. in the dream, i rented a room in a house that the table is the table was moving out of. now, i don't know the table is the table's real name, or what he looks like, so this is kind of strange. i guess the person in the dream was *my idea* of the table is the table. we didn't interact all that much, but he was 'around'. i should probably quit ilx.

haha table, you are one of my favorite posters on here (i think you're one of everyone's!) and my ideation of you was very cool, too. if anything, you're a reason i stick around. obv i was joking about leaving the site over this, just found it funny/horrifying that the messageboard has infiltrated my dreamscapes. it's all good involuntary thought fodder i guess but it forced me to admit to myself a level of personal involvement here that i hadn't acknowledged.

I need to correct my earlier assertion about 9/11. I was not near a computer on 9/11 or the following week. I do remember later reading those threads from the day of the attack in order to get a sense of how ILX reacted, but by the time I could have been participating it would have been later in September when everyone was speculating about further attacks and the US response or October when the Afghanistan bombings had started.

Are there multiple posters who remember the death of JFK? Or the Beatles on Ed Sullivan? Or another less shopworn historic event of that era?

I am not multiple posters, but I was at school and in 3rd grade on November 22, 1963 and can recall a few bits and pieces of that day. Mostly being very uncertain what it all meant. I can recall even less about the Cuban Missile Crisis about a year before that, but some small scraps of those memories are still accessible.

I was just reading Brother Wayne Kramer's autobiography and he remembers being really freaked out during the Missile Crisis, because a lot of weapons plants were based in or near Detroit

My mother talked about being frightened during the Crisis about having to seek shelter with my two brothers, aged 6 and newborn.
