Just ask at least one of his former wives. Oh, you can't, because she's dead.

The Reaper might have stopped for a drink on the way, but will be there eventually.

is Jerry Lee Lewis nog de moeite waard?

Halfway there but for you, Wednesday, 26 October 2022 22:39 (one year ago) link

He played Prague in 2004, I was writing listings for a city magazine, my blurb said "Yes, he's still alive.' My editor spiked it. He would have been just 68 then.

link.exposing.politically (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 26 October 2022 22:51 (one year ago) link

surprised he was only 87 tbh.

Trying to remember the name of the singer in Austin who had a song about him where she would sing 'He'll leave you breathless!" and then make a self-choking motion.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 16:55 (one year ago) link

Right now if you google his name you get like a 50/50 mix of new articles confirming his death and articles from like 12 hours ago insisting he is still alive.

Haven't seen an official obit yet but there's a number of FB/twitter posts circulating saying that R&B/disco singer Geraldine Hunt has passed - whenever I think of my all-time favorite disco singles, "Can't Fake the Feeling" is always one of the first tracks that comes to mind. RIP

Geraldine Hunt’s death now confirmed (i.e. her Wiki page has been updated)

“Can’t Fake The Feeling” is immortal.

weird that around the same time she finally had her big hit, two of her kids were already having theirs - Freddie James “(Everybody) Get Up And Boogie” in ‘79 and Rosalind Hunt (as part of Cheri) with “Murphy’s Law” in ‘82.

Sad news, if pushed I sometimes think it's my favourite disco track. And I like a lot of disco.

I am so so sorry to hear that the brilliant Herman Daly - founding father of ecological economics - has died. His paradigm-changing work flipped my little econ head inside out & inspired me to write a book on rewriting economics… Here are just some of his big ideas 1/n. pic.twitter.com/uLAcIh67Mz

I expected to see him at the match on Friday night, so I suppose now the BBC will make a big deal out of it during the coverage.

insane and sad

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Saturday, 5 November 2022 20:03 (one year ago) link

I saw him perform when he was 13 or something. My friend Joe and I were the only adults in the place not there with little kids. It was pretty awkward, especially the bathroom line. On the way in we saw an excited kid race across the parking lot yelling "Aaron Carter! Aaron Carter!" And he ran straight into a lamppost with a dramatic, cartoonish "clang!" and fell right over like a Looney Tune character before he got up and started crying; it sounded like an olde timey firetruck. He was OK, though, afaict, and I'm sure he had a great time.

RIP Aaron Carter.
