Mike Davis has passed. He was my favorite writer, and through coincidence and his down to earth nature I got to know him personally. As a human being he was a hundred times what he was as a writer. Everyone dies but I long irrationally believed maybe somehow we’d never lose Mike.

Mourned by . . . no one.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 26 October 2022 21:34 (three years ago)

Is Wanda Jackson the last of that generation left?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 26 October 2022 21:34 (three years ago)

Watch out jimbeaux!

Halfway there but for you, Wednesday, 26 October 2022 21:56 (three years ago)

Nobody's mourning him if he isn't dead, that's the line I would take.

link.exposing.politically (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 26 October 2022 21:57 (three years ago)

he's the Kill-ER, not Kill-EE

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 26 October 2022 22:21 (three years ago)

Just ask at least one of his former wives. Oh, you can't, because she's dead.

The Reaper might have stopped for a drink on the way, but will be there eventually.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Wednesday, 26 October 2022 22:31 (three years ago)

is Jerry Lee Lewis nog de moeite waard?

Halfway there but for you, Wednesday, 26 October 2022 22:39 (three years ago)

He played Prague in 2004, I was writing listings for a city magazine, my blurb said "Yes, he's still alive.' My editor spiked it. He would have been just 68 then.

link.exposing.politically (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Wednesday, 26 October 2022 22:51 (three years ago)

surprised he was only 87 tbh.

bible fumes (stevie), Thursday, 27 October 2022 07:43 (three years ago)

Trying to remember the name of the singer in Austin who had a song about him where she would sing 'He'll leave you breathless!" and then make a self-choking motion.

Capital Radio Sweetheart (James Redd and the Blecchs), Friday, 28 October 2022 16:55 (three years ago)

Right now if you google his name you get like a 50/50 mix of new articles confirming his death and articles from like 12 hours ago insisting he is still alive.

Haven't seen an official obit yet but there's a number of FB/twitter posts circulating saying that R&B/disco singer Geraldine Hunt has passed - whenever I think of my all-time favorite disco singles, "Can't Fake the Feeling" is always one of the first tracks that comes to mind. RIP
