Just finished S1. My justification for not stopping at this point is I watched all of Battlestar Galactica.

BSG reboot's last third wouldn't have bothered me so much if every episode's intro to that point hadn't told us that THE CYLONS HAVE A PLAN. If you aren't expecting things to make sense, the last third is more enjoyable

There were rumors of a third reboot but I don’t think anything has come of it.

like the villain feels poorly phoned in by ep4-5 of s1- and I hope I’m wrong.

Who was it at that point? I feel like one of the better things about the show is that for a lot of it there isn’t a villain. Just different people with different goals clashing.

It was Avasarala's war-crazy rival at that point, no? He was pretty villainous.

did they go way over budget on special effects / set design and have to trim the number of episodes? or maybe we get 6 eps at 2 hours each?

iirc they used about half the content of book 6 in S5 already, which made me wonder what they were going to do to fill 10 episodes. I guess less episodes is one solution

Just wondering how they have a satisfying conclusion, unless it completely deviates from the books (which is entirely possible): the baddies of books 7 and 8 aren't really going to have time to establish themselves.

I don't think they've confirmed but it's very likely they won't touch anything after book 6

I don’t think they’re doing the time jump. Which is fine, they could always revisit it down the road and avoid spending money on aging effects, right?

It's funny because I usually think less episodes results in higher average quality, but GoT disabused that notion. At least Expanse doesn't have its entire narrative resting on these six episodes

one thing about those last few episodes of game of thrones is that they were basically all feature film length

My only complaint about possibly ending it before the time jump that happened in the books is that Marcos might end up being the final villain. Marcos doesn’t deserve that! He’s such a shithead.

i couldn't finish the most recent season, largely because there was a lot of belter dialogue and man sometimes that accent sounds right and sometimes it's just so, so cringey

Just got to Amos's "I'm that guy" moment, incredible that it works instead of being a cheesy action movie line because of the work they've done on Amos's character and the look on the actor's face when Prax calls him his best friend.

My favorite group of characters (except for the Secretary-General/Errinwright who are too one-dimensional) since Deadwood.

That TY and that Guy Podcast is quite interesting. Th9ough I haven't got very far with it. Listened to episode 4 a few days ago.

The final series and the final book coming out at about the same time so I can really confuse continuities in my head.

Other than season 1 I haven't really been enthralled by this, having said that I somehow managed to watch it all so far so I will most likely be up for the finale.

(to clarify I wasn't enthralled much by season 1 either but for me it's the most interesting out of all of it)

We were looking for a new show a while ago, and like everyone, found the first 5-6 episodes compelling enough but kind of awful. The friend who recommended it said, "trust me, it gets better, it's the best sci-fi show in years, you'll love it," and so we kept on, mostly because we both think Amos is just unstoppably hot.

And then in 1.5 months, we finished all five seasons. Super excited for the next, though am admittedly sad about it being the finale.
