i've gotten it a couple more times today, sometimes it goes away with a refresh, sometimes it doesn't and then goes away after a couple minutes. given that it seems more likely they're testing something than its a bug
― ciderpress, Monday, 28 June 2021 01:24 (four years ago)
yeah i read that they were testing that, so dumb just let the people who want the chronological timeline have it, im sure the vast majority of just use the default
― lag∞n, Monday, 28 June 2021 02:58 (four years ago)
seems like they just flipped the switch for everyone at once, literally everyone on my tl is complaining now

ugh, the post going around about the pizza place in ohio with the owner that gave all the workers the "profit" (spoiler: it was not the profit) from the day to the workers, who then earned $78/hour for that day, leading to the conclusion that the owner could pay their workers that much every day if they really wanted to
all of that, so much of it veering toward something that is the truth, but it's all based upon shitty reporting, shitty headline writing, a screengrab of the article rather than a link to the real one, and social media.
If only someone had written some sort of theory, about labor and even maybe about value….a labor and value theory or something like that…ah! But alas! pic.twitter.com/Mjd1B3bIIs— Middle Tennessee DSA 🌹 (@MidTNDSA) July 16, 2021
i looked at the original story to confirm that the headline was wrong. it was not the "entire day of profits", it was the entire day of revenue: sales + tips. this single paragraph tells you all you need to know to make an estimate for how much business they usually do and about how many workers they have:
On a typical Monday, they do about 100 orders. This week, they did 220 orders, which translated to over $6,000 in sales and over $1,000 in tips, all of which went back to the employees. Each worker made about $78 an hour for that shift.
why does this matter? because i've seen at least 3 people on twitter today, 2 that i know, saying this is a great example for the left, with "concrete numbers" that "prove" things bla bla bla. uggggggh, no, no. i mean, it is a good example, but it doesn't mean what you think it means, and $78/hour is

― Z_TBD (Karl Malone), Friday, 16 July 2021 17:19 (four years ago)
Trying to point that kind of error on Twitter is zero fun, partly because you look like a dick and partly out of fear of people thinking you're in favour of shitty wages. The social part of social media means it is not accuracy's friend.
― Alba, Friday, 16 July 2021 17:35 (four years ago)
the rare success story! the person I pointed it out to was very nice about it, just now! which is very rare! i was like "sorry, i feel like a wet blanket..."

the tanman has predictably deleted the tweetit blows my mind when people think the delivery person has anything to do with it. I ended up getting a wrong order last year, texted the deliverer to make sure they hadn’t accidentally dropped off the wrong bag, and they said that was the only delivery they’d picked up from that restaurant. end of interaction! absolutely nothing else has to do with them

it sucks because i've made a couple REALLY good twitter posts during the last 2 hours, forgetting that i was still banned for another hour or so. and when you hit submit and see that you're still being punished, and you hit back and the perfect tweet isn't saved...you can see what caused 1/6. oh wait, twitter didn't ban trump until the middle of 1/6. that's the day he became president

some of these unseen twitter posts, i made, also - they were life-affirming. i can't show them to you now, of course, i lost them, and to be honest i don't really remember what they were about. but i remember thinking while typing them, "you know this is kind of cool that i'm coming back to twitter in this positive way". now i remember nothing. i have no positive feelings, toward twitter or otherwise. twitter, you took away my patriotic freedom, but you also took away my freedom of liberty. and for that, i will never forget. 1 hour and it's on @jack
