Actor Tishuan Scott (probably best known as the host of the couples seminar in Computer Chess). Car accident.

I don't recall meeting him, but--like a lot of Houston-area actors--I had him on Facebook. He was a very troubled individual, struggling with bipolar disorder and all the problems that entailed (just last week he shared he'd been sent to the ER after an altercation during a traffic stop).

RIP Doug. My contribution to the ILX Pre-Covers Morrissey's "World Peace Is None Of Your Business" comp. was a track called "Mountjoy", not sure many people spotted the reference though.

Ian Pattinson, undoubtedly the filthiest writer on Radio 4 - he used to write the Samantha/Lionel Blair material for ISIHAC.

I see we’ve had a letter from a Mrs Trellis of North Wales.

It is with sorrow that we announce the death of our client and friend, Iain Pattinson.

We are enormously proud of him and his extraordinary career, most notably as the writer of I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. pic.twitter.com/KI6AM1aUvp

I read that as Si Spurrier, which would have been more of a shock (though 56 is no age at all)

wow, it blows my mind that he was so young. I got their debut record when I was 9, which means he was only 16! RIP

They weren't even really that fat, at least not by today's standards. Well, one of them kind of was.

are you thinshaming the Fat Boys

stilt in the wings (sic), Friday, 19 February 2021 14:00 (three years ago) link

not at all! just saying that maybe a couple of the guys were, you know, "stuffing", so as to enhance the reputation.

henry s, Friday, 19 February 2021 14:23 (three years ago) link

I had the Beach Boys/Fat Boys "Wipe Out" single. Also, I thought I could still kind of hum the theme song from their movie "Paramedics," but I just watched the trailer and learned that it was in fact called "Disorderlies," not "Paramedics," and I had made up the "Paramedics" theme song.

I do remember a lot of their other singles, novelty/covers and otherwise. And iirc the Fat Boys may have been the first place I heard the term "beat box."

Seeing reports on FB that pianist Gene Taylor from the Blasters (among others) has passed.

"what are you DOING to fleetwood mac??" (C. Grisso/McCain), Sunday, 21 February 2021 01:46 (three years ago) link

The story on Facebook behind Gene Taylor's death is terrible. He was living in Austin & had been without water or power for 5 days. A family member says it may have been a heart attack brought on by hypothermia
