Top 77 Television and Streaming Video Series of 2019

Two shows that I've realized over the past week that I forgot to nominate and possibly would have voted for:

Magic for Humans (a charming and funny Abso-lutely production featuring prestidigitation, which is usually not my thing but is totally my thing in this particular context)
How to Get Away with Murder (a show I never in a million years would've ever thought to watch of my own volition or would've ever thought I'd like but got sucked all the way into last year, completely ludicrous and ott but hella addictive and Viola Davis is just magnificent all the time)

re: shadows -- one of my bff's was telling me about it the last time we hung out, and said it was on par with the film, and that I should watch both, and gave me his hulu login so I could watch it. I haven't as yet watched it, but his summary made it sound great.

OMG -- why did I forget to nominate How to Get Away with Murder?!!!! That is one of my faves!

very similar style of humor, with additional characters and depth.

the lead actors are all hilarious, especially matt berry, and funny in a way that's distinct from the original trio.

I mean the one who was in Harry Potter, if that's the one you mean ah yes gotcha xp

Watchmen was one i voted for but i have a hard time being passionate about it, except that its treatment of racism in America was really, really well-done and therefore the final episode was satisfying, and the Hooded Justice episode was probably the peak. Lots of the rest seemed overly mannered and refined and while clever didn't really make me feel anything other than impressed at the clever machinations. The acting was excellent, as one would imagine with that cast.

the vampire trial episode of wwdits is an obvious standout, but i also loved the escalating running gags about gabriel's accidental slaying abilities and nadja's endlessly reincarnated ex 'grigor'

Anyway, has forks dropped some sort of fake on us

probably would've voted watchmen higher if i liked the final episode more, but overall it was high quality. still pales in comparison to s2 and 3 of leftovers, but so do most things.

I just finished Watchmen last month. A lot good about it. A lot meh about it.

If only we could get the schitt's creek cast to do a send up of Terrace House I would be in love.

I am totally confused about "male lead" in the context of How to Get Away with Murder, because as I see it, there is a female lead, and the rest are supporting cast

Schitt's Creek should probably have its own thread. And it's one of the few shows i'd want to rewatch again since the characters are ones i'd miss when it's over.

I agree except for the thing where it's ending in like six weeks or whatever. :(

Is Pimple Popper very popular? I liked watching it a lot on youtube. I assume most people are fascinated with that shit. I was watching that obesity autopsy video floating around last month while eating salt and vinegar wings.

As I mentioned after my bingewatch of the first season of Joe Pera, that show is something really special. Sui generis.

I bailed on Mr. Robot after the second season and again after the third season, but I guess I'm in a decent position to see how it recovers.

Joe Pera is the best but I didn't vote for it because S1 was 2018 and we in the UK don't seem to have permission to view S2 yet

As for Schitt's Creek, it is the show which all of my early-teenage tutees have been recommending I see, which has probably hardened me against it a little unfairly. Will probably check it out now

the Milwaukee episode of Joe Pera was so much fun b/c I've spent a lot of time in those exact locations. and I also come from a pretty small town so I kinda go through the same emotions

anyways joe pera was my number one and I almost love it too much to talk evenly about. the bean arch, you know. singing on the first day of school. a show about the smallest pleasures writ very large and the greatest tragedies writ just as they are in the sense that these things happen. I’m glad I live in a world that is shred with joe

Schitt's Creek and Joe Pera are the only ones I voted for that I feel strongly inclined to evangelize in favor of. They're like 'best of decade'-level picks.

(Oh and The OA but there's no chance it'll show up at this point and everyone who isn't onboard already is just gonna point and laugh like they always do at beautiful things they don't understand.)

i love that Joe Pera and the show it tied with are both so very good, both so very funny and both so very different. I also like them about equally!
