Game over, stupid fucking handball penalty.

Joe Hart + Ben Gibson look done deals to Burnley. Both of them passing Dyche's stringent criteria for what makes a solid Burnley signing.
we've now beaten 3 decent top tier Euro sides(Lyon,Bolagna,RB Liepzig) 3-1, 2-1, and finally 3-0 just now. We're ready!
― calzino, Friday, 3 August 2018 17:11 (seven years ago)
Adama Traore signing for us this morning. Domagoj Vida signing for...somebody?...this week. Love this jigsaw we're building.

Middlesborough seem to be having a very FFP friendly window, probably watching the QPR situation. I expect us to be linked with Caveleiro .. again, when this is confirmed.
― calzino, Monday, 6 August 2018 09:50 (seven years ago)
That seems 50/50. I don't think we *need* to move Cav on but obviously the speculation won't go away. My guess is - not this window. But we'll see, there's no sentiment in our transfer policy now.
― the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Monday, 6 August 2018 10:02 (seven years ago)
i think if our Limbombe deal truly is dead, and he 's off to the Geordies, then there will be another attempt to sign Cav.

do you guys know something abt brighton I don't?
― ogmor, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 07:50 (seven years ago)
Brighton won't finish rock bottom, and probably have a realistic chance of finishing above Watford + Southampton for starters!
we are bidding £13.5m for Montpellier's Issac Mbenza. The consensus from their messageboard seems to be: talented, but those English clubs, they crazy! But saying that 10 goals playing on the right last season in Ligue 1 is at least very impressive on paper.
― calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 07:52 (seven years ago)
and like with Wagner, Hughton won't be sacked when the going get's tough, which can go either way, but clubs changing managers mid-season aren't always lucky enough to get that Mark Hughes bounce!
― calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:00 (seven years ago)
just felt they looked a bit lightweight and vulnerable to a second season slump tbh. beyond Cardiff it's a lot harder to pick 3 to go down

― Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:28 (seven years ago)

― Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:30 (seven years ago)
yeah i fancy them for a relegation season
― the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:31 (seven years ago)
i wonder if Ashley has fantasies about treating the staff of his football team the way he treats the rest of his employees?
he probably has a stipulation that the manager's contract is null and void if they drop dead in the workplace!
― calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:37 (seven years ago)
it seems Newcastle have made 30m in this transfer window and are still sniffing around for freebies, they had a huge wage bill in that promotion season(running at a £90m loss + easily treble of Hudds+Brighton combined). Getting Kennedy on loan again was a good move tho, but they look a bit weaker on paper now. I'm plumping for Geordies, Watford + Southampton for bottom 3 this year.
― calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:54 (seven years ago)
hey even if Cardiff get a good manager in by October they will still have that squad

I totally forgot about Cardiff, they are already preparing for the 21/22 season in league 1!
― calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 09:00 (seven years ago)
brighton had the best defence in the bottom half of the prem last season, they were just unable to score any goals. glenn murray only managed about 12, all the rest of their strikers were fairly useless. they've got rid of baldock this summer and signed a few interesting-looking attacking players, though they're all unproven at prem level. there's also the hope that locadia will refind the form he had at psv. certain to be the kiss of death, but i think they'll stay up

Buying Joe Hart that's really going to improve a side who not only couldn't beat Aberdeen over 180 minutes but were outplayed for much of the time.
― Father Ted in Forkhandles (Tom D.), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 09:54 (seven years ago)
Alex Smithies would have been a much better option if the transfer criteria is basically: truss no foreigns!

It's going to be both a bit awkward and really funny when everyone at Burnley realises that Joe Hart is the worst of the three keepers they have at their disposal.
Also, Arsenal, blimey.

Why do some people think City won't be champions? Liverpool seem stronger but I can't see them as a serious title contender. City can afford to be complacent or sloppy and still run away with it imo.

that £14m on Ross McCormack might seem like wise and careful speculation next to FC ILX splurging £20m on Jack Clarke. I know different leagues and all that but he's looked like a bang average L1 player every time I've seen him and I think it is fair to be judgmental - even towards such a young one - he looks like the consummate flatter to deceive overrated young dud and a complete arsehole to boot!
