I have to say, and no doubt time will make a fool of me, but Utd's signings so far this summer haven't convinced me that top 6 is an unattainable dream for us lesser clubs

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 26 June 2019 11:36 (four weeks ago) link

AWB is a brilliant signing imo. Best one on one defender in the league

Bit more business to do for sure though

Number None, Wednesday, 26 June 2019 11:47 (four weeks ago) link

AWB was nailed on to go to Utd for a chunk of change since November I'd say. A very obvious coincidence of needs for the player and the two clubs I reckon.

Packie Bonner's comments on Tierney are indicative of how hard it's going to be for anyone from the Premier League to sign players from much less wealthy leagues. Why should Celtic a first team player with a contract to an English club for anything less than £25m?

in twelve parts (lamonti), Wednesday, 26 June 2019 13:09 (four weeks ago) link

awb is a very good signing id love to be calling him a useless cunt for us next season

godfellaz (darraghmac), Wednesday, 26 June 2019 13:41 (four weeks ago) link

It's not so much AWB as let's say the rebuild necessary and the money already spent

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 26 June 2019 14:11 (four weeks ago) link

not that i would put United as the likeliest target to overtake for teams looking to finish 6th.

United have apparently bid £34m for Bruno Fernandes, which is likely to be as successful as the Zaha offer.

Barcelona have supposedly put up £100m for Lautaro Martinez, scorer of six Serie A goals last season (who does look an excellent prospect tbf).

ShariVari, Tuesday, 2 July 2019 06:38 (three weeks ago) link

there's a story floating around that Fernandes had a clause inserted in his contract that if Sporting turn down any offer above €35m, they have to pay him €5m

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Wednesday, 17 July 2019 17:41 (one week ago) link

You're forgiven for forgetting that, as it's just one of the many, many reasons those poor toon fans are up in arms.

Wiki taught me chairman Mike Ashley - who wouldn't open his wallet if he had a gun to his head - "stated that he regretted buying Newcastle United, but admitted that he was "wedded" to the club." Lmao.

Bruce will be there all season, or at least won't be fired until March when it's too late for his successor to do anything about it.

Great season to be a newly promoted club, Newcastle look doomed already and Brighton don't appear to be in great shape either.

Niche interest but as someone who watched an enormous amount of Australian football last season, for lack of anything better to do on a Saturday morning, it’s good to see Sarpreet Singh get picked up by Bayern Munich.

He’s one of the best passers of the ball in the league, albeit with next to no competition, but it’s difficult to judge how useful he would be to a decent team. It’ll be interesting to see how he develops in Germany over the next couple of years.

ShariVari, Monday, 22 July 2019 10:20 (two days ago) link

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 22 July 2019 10:28 (two days ago) link

£17m for Phil Billing from Bournemouth will be astonishingly good good business. And I like the idea of such a tinpot player as him going to such a tinpot shit ground no fans club. He puts in a couple of 8/10 shifts and scores a pretty amazing goal tbf then starts thinking he's a superstar who should be at Barca. He's a total diva who downed tools and spat his dummy out when the going got tough. It probably didn't help with one of our morons calling him a "black donkey" on twitter, but he's still a total waster and probably no more than a few mill worth of midfielder at best.

calzino, Monday, 22 July 2019 14:01 (two days ago) link
