Too big for ILF.

I've never wanted Aberdeen to win a football match more:

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/08/01/football/brexit-burnley-back-in-europe-spt-intl/index.html

As a Dons fan I know posted the other day, when Burnley qualified for Europe all they had was a dream and 120 million quid.

Father Ted in Forkhandles (Tom D.), Thursday, 2 August 2018 15:52 (seven years ago)

about time the ILX Dyche backlash gathered pace, the guys a fucking degenerate!

calzino, Thursday, 2 August 2018 16:25 (seven years ago)

and don't get me started on the good people of Burnley!

calzino, Thursday, 2 August 2018 16:26 (seven years ago)

I put EPL in the thread title, in case people get confused and think we mean the Liverpool that play in Scotland or Abu Dhabi.

Matt DC, Thursday, 2 August 2018 18:50 (seven years ago)

can’t believe kane’s golden boot hasn’t earned him a move to a big club

Burnley - Aberdeen into extra time

Game over, stupid fucking handball penalty.

Father Ted in Forkhandles (Tom D.), Thursday, 2 August 2018 21:12 (seven years ago)

Joe Hart + Ben Gibson look done deals to Burnley. Both of them passing Dyche's stringent criteria for what makes a solid Burnley signing.

we've now beaten 3 decent top tier Euro sides(Lyon,Bolagna,RB Liepzig) 3-1, 2-1, and finally 3-0 just now. We're ready!

calzino, Friday, 3 August 2018 17:11 (seven years ago)

Adama Traore signing for us this morning. Domagoj Vida signing for...somebody?...this week. Love this jigsaw we're building.

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Monday, 6 August 2018 09:28 (seven years ago)

Middlesborough seem to be having a very FFP friendly window, probably watching the QPR situation. I expect us to be linked with Caveleiro .. again, when this is confirmed.

calzino, Monday, 6 August 2018 09:50 (seven years ago)

That seems 50/50. I don't think we *need* to move Cav on but obviously the speculation won't go away. My guess is - not this window. But we'll see, there's no sentiment in our transfer policy now.

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Monday, 6 August 2018 10:02 (seven years ago)

i think if our Limbombe deal truly is dead, and he 's off to the Geordies, then there will be another attempt to sign Cav.

do you guys know something abt brighton I don't?

ogmor, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 07:50 (seven years ago)

Brighton won't finish rock bottom, and probably have a realistic chance of finishing above Watford + Southampton for starters!

we are bidding £13.5m for Montpellier's Issac Mbenza. The consensus from their messageboard seems to be: talented, but those English clubs, they crazy! But saying that 10 goals playing on the right last season in Ligue 1 is at least very impressive on paper.

calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 07:52 (seven years ago)

and like with Wagner, Hughton won't be sacked when the going get's tough, which can go either way, but clubs changing managers mid-season aren't always lucky enough to get that Mark Hughes bounce!

calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:00 (seven years ago)

just felt they looked a bit lightweight and vulnerable to a second season slump tbh. beyond Cardiff it's a lot harder to pick 3 to go down

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:11 (seven years ago)

At some point Rafa's patience will run out and then Newcastle are gone

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:28 (seven years ago)

I guess when I say "at some point" I mean when Ashley declines to cough up again in January

Windsor Davies, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:30 (seven years ago)

yeah i fancy them for a relegation season

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:31 (seven years ago)

i wonder if Ashley has fantasies about treating the staff of his football team the way he treats the rest of his employees?

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:31 (seven years ago)

he probably has a stipulation that the manager's contract is null and void if they drop dead in the workplace!

calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:37 (seven years ago)

it seems Newcastle have made 30m in this transfer window and are still sniffing around for freebies, they had a huge wage bill in that promotion season(running at a £90m loss + easily treble of Hudds+Brighton combined). Getting Kennedy on loan again was a good move tho, but they look a bit weaker on paper now. I'm plumping for Geordies, Watford + Southampton for bottom 3 this year.

calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:54 (seven years ago)

hey even if Cardiff get a good manager in by October they will still have that squad

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:56 (seven years ago)

looks p ready to me

ogmor, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 08:59 (seven years ago)

I totally forgot about Cardiff, they are already preparing for the 21/22 season in league 1!

calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 09:00 (seven years ago)

brighton had the best defence in the bottom half of the prem last season, they were just unable to score any goals. glenn murray only managed about 12, all the rest of their strikers were fairly useless. they've got rid of baldock this summer and signed a few interesting-looking attacking players, though they're all unproven at prem level. there's also the hope that locadia will refind the form he had at psv. certain to be the kiss of death, but i think they'll stay up

Buying Joe Hart that's really going to improve a side who not only couldn't beat Aberdeen over 180 minutes but were outplayed for much of the time.

Father Ted in Forkhandles (Tom D.), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 09:54 (seven years ago)

Alex Smithies would have been a much better option if the transfer criteria is basically: truss no foreigns!

calzino, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 09:58 (seven years ago)

traore to wolves too

nxd, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 10:05 (seven years ago)

yeah, just want another centre half now i think

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 10:06 (seven years ago)

It's going to be both a bit awkward and really funny when everyone at Burnley realises that Joe Hart is the worst of the three keepers they have at their disposal.

Also, Arsenal, blimey.

Aston Villa smashes club transfer record to sign a Brazilian striker for £22m from Club Brugge! Adjusted for inflation I guess cause I'm pretty sure Darren Bent was always reported as having cost us £24m or thereabouts back when? Or was that 18m with add-ons? Memories :)

I think possibly I have noticed Wesley as a name while clicking through other teams' CL results on my FM19 career but then again possibly not, who can say. youd better believe i'm loading that shit up right now though to find out how good he's gonna be for us in 2023. anyway ive got no intention of letting my own ignorance sully this glorious moment, we're back baby and we're spending irresponsible sums of money on unproven quantities same as the rest of you. A REAL PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM, JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT WITHOUT THEM :) :) :) :)

Windsor Davies, Thursday, 13 June 2019 18:13 (seven years ago)

and to anyone who suggests that 14m on Ross McCormack was an irresponsible sum of money i say *blows raspberry*

Windsor Davies, Thursday, 13 June 2019 18:13 (seven years ago)

welcome back lads

godfellaz (darraghmac), Thursday, 13 June 2019 18:22 (seven years ago)

Hmm, it seems there have been about 40 consecutive posts about Aston Villa on this, the Premier league thread. I'm openly weeping over this discovery, although also it is off-topic because this thread is for the 2018—19 season

Imago is correct that I am an extremely good guy. I 100% knew who Wesley was before we signed him and all. Huht

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 13 June 2019 18:49 (seven years ago)

xxp

that £14m on Ross McCormack might seem like wise and careful speculation next to FC ILX splurging £20m on Jack Clarke. I know different leagues and all that but he's looked like a bang average L1 player every time I've seen him and I think it is fair to be judgmental - even towards such a young one - he looks like the consummate flatter to deceive overrated young dud and a complete arsehole to boot!

calzino, Friday, 21 June 2019 14:44 (seven years ago)

LOL FC ILX. Like it.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Friday, 21 June 2019 14:47 (seven years ago)

McCormack didn’t look cut out for the Australian A-League last time I saw him play.

If they loan Costa off us then they've done good business there i think
