Zing Touch: ILX now ON IPHONE (and ipod tooches too)

Yeah thread title is a big one, every thread looks like it's called "zing touch". It's amazing how quickly I forget which thread I clicked on.

Also is there still no way to see all your bookmarks? Search didn't seem to work, and I had to go into safari to find them the other day.

Looks great though, I dig it.

Weird, I haven't seen this one before. You mean the big spinner keeps spinning, or the one by the network signal indicator?

Also, do you have any bookmarks?

Big spinner. Basically if I'm in SNA and pull to refresh it does refresh the first time, but stays there spinning forever above the refreshed list. And iirc I can't refresh again while it's doing that - I have to go back to the home screen/board/bookmark list.

(I've got one bookmark hanging around that I haven't cleared up/updated for a few days.)

still craving view all yr bookmarks support. app 2.0 looks amazing.

love the new version stet and have already used filter a number of times.

one additional thing - after a couple of weeks of zero ILX time I've got an embarrassing number of bookmarks. scrolling *up* through them (and it does seem like it's just up) is p glitchy.

small beer in the grand scheme of things, and as I say the app's great (like woof, it's prob my most used) but if you are doing a bit of mopping up...

new features seem neat but anyway to go back to old font? I can't even say what the difference is but I preferred it before.

I usually like avenir in text setting but on the phone, I don't know, maybe just compared to before whatever this is looks too light and airy.

ya light small san serif is not the most readable combo

I'm sure I'll be used to it in no time.

the new font seems like it should be harder to read, but somehow I'm finding it easier than the old one

i think i stumbled on a bug:

i was in my account settings (trying to check/change my server) and somehow logged in seven times.

i had seven lists of bookmarks and seven "ilx boards" links.

uninstalled/reinstalled and everything's fine now

Is this thread breaking on zing for anyone else?

yeah i have a few threads that won't load on zing

yesterday i couldn't bookmark my new position on that thread. but i'm using old zing bc i haven't updated ios yet.

I have one thread that won't load. Not enough info yet to suss the common denominator...

If a thread won't load for me it's usually because somebody's used a weird character in a post somewhere.

on that thread there's and e with an accent and an a with an umlaut and an a grave, some chinese, and an escape character. and a euro sign. but that's about it. my money is on the escape.

yeah that thread doesn't load for me in Zing either, just sits on the "Loading answers..." message

That thread should work now - was a bug server-side. XML doesn't support all the UTF-8 characters, who knew?

I have some problems with that statement but mostly because I do know about really dumb character encoding

mh, I was taking that from http://www.sklar.com/archives/96-XML-vs.-Control-Characters.html among other places, and stripping out those characters made it all work. Is it wrong?

nah, my problems are mostly emotional when it comes to character encoding!

it does say right on that page that they're not unicode characters according to that spec, so you'd think any smart parser would give you a mode to remove them but noooooo

another buggy thing i have going on is when i get xposted using zing i get the same "somebody else has posted on this thread in the meantime" error message like half a dozen times in a row before i can go back to the thread.

I'm looking into the xpost thing, I haven't seen it myself, but have suspicions.

I've just sent a new build to Apple, which has a few things
- Supports Dynamic Type, so you can whack the font size up to hueg. But the price is you have to use Helvetica.
- Some of those bugs upthread are fixed
- I've added the system share sheet button. But amazingly the system one doesn't support opening in Safari and you have to roll your own. Fuck Apple on that one, I'll wait till they add it.
