Thanks!

Does ilx have a self-hatred thread? A thread on the subject of self-hatred.
― Eight Model Play, Thursday, 22 August 2013 21:00 (twelve years ago)
This the closest I could find on search, but isn't really what I was looking for:
taking sides: self pity vs. self loathing
― Eight Model Play, Thursday, 22 August 2013 21:01 (twelve years ago)
there was a reference in one of the old geir threads to a previous thread were geir broke his legendary cool after being accused of racism, i would like to see that thread
― Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Thursday, 22 August 2013 21:03 (twelve years ago)
*where* geir
Is this the one?Why does Europeans never want to listen to country music?
― Eight Model Play, Thursday, 22 August 2013 21:07 (twelve years ago)
no that is a typical geir response to accusations of racism, this was supposedly a time he fought fire with fire, it would be prior to 2008 or so
― Nilmar Honorato da Silva, Thursday, 22 August 2013 21:10 (twelve years ago)
geir used to post so much
it would take a preternaturally gifted archivist or eidetic memory to remember i am sure

I remember the rev talking about the time geir told him to shut the fuck up and then looking it up and it not quite being the meltdown I expected. I mean he does say it, it's right there, but immediately followed by standard-issue geirness, like he doesn't even know he just said it.
― Charlie Slothrop (wins), Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:08 (twelve years ago)
Geir is a product of the isolation and narrowness of his society - in Britain now only active / committed BNP supporters would share his obsession with raceWhat the fuck are you talking about?? "Obsession With Race"???Personally I don't give a FUCK what skin colour people have got. I care about MUSIC! Eminem and El-P are just as crap and musically worthless as Public Enemy and Jay-Z while on the other hand, Seal and Tasmin Archer have both made a lot of great melodic music. This isn't a matter of race it is a matter of music. What music should be and what it should not be. And most, of all, it is a matter of defending the most beautiful invention Mankind has ever made: The full tempered melodic/harmonic music system!― Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, February 4, 2004 3:24 AM (9 years ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
Similar to what wins describes above.

Oh, I forgot to add italics, first line of that is a quote, if it's not clear.
― Eight Model Play, Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:12 (twelve years ago)
oh now that is more like it! I don't remember ever seeing that one
― Charlie Slothrop (wins), Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:13 (twelve years ago)
Thats hardly a storied blowout by ilx standards, and def not by old ilx standards
― dmacation problem (darraghmac), Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:15 (twelve years ago)
agreed but by geir standards?
― Charlie Slothrop (wins), Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:17 (twelve years ago)
I mean I wouldn't presume to
― Charlie Slothrop (wins), Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:18 (twelve years ago)
you understand
Of course
― dmacation problem (darraghmac), Thursday, 22 August 2013 22:20 (twelve years ago)
Yeah, as someone stated back in those days, Geir managed to turn the other cheek so many times despite massive provocation. That one time was the biggest blowout I can remember, but it's also the best summary of his standpoint at the same time.
It doesn't mean it's right, but it does mean it's his opinion (as he stated sometimes, everything he posted had an implicit "in my opinion").

pretty sure this is when I called him a nazi and he actually posted a "fuck you" in response, which was VERY uncharacteristic of him... I am blanking on what the actual thread was though arrgh

Is there an ilx thread on the subject of rave reviews that make the subject sound awful/ negative reviews that make the subject sound brilliant?
― Try not to make anyone angry when you say things to people (Eight Model Play), Saturday, 24 August 2013 23:10 (twelve years ago)
bad or negative reviews that sold you on an album
― just sayin, Saturday, 24 August 2013 23:12 (twelve years ago)
Thank you, just sayin. I like both rave reviews that make the subject sound awful and negative reviews that make the subject sound brilliant, rave reviews that make the subject sound awful probably have better comedy value but there's a pleasant narcissistic thrill you can get from negative reviews that make the subject sound brilliant.

a pen-and-ink drawing of two men standing facing each other. the guy on the left is holding a beehive on the end of a stick, and the guy on the right is sticking his dick into the beehive. the guy on the left is saying, "WHAT FEELS AWESOME?" and the guy on the right is saying, "THIS FEELS AWESOME!", and they both have rainbow-colored confetti (or maybe flowers?) streaming out of their mouths. very positive vibe all around. I think I saw it on ilx one time. help?

On a thread while talking about TinTin, the topic drifted to ligne claire and somebody posted a link to an adventure strip starring a boy in a skeleton costume/mask. Anybody remember where/who/what?

Not that one, I was thinking more in terms of people who post three videos a day of long semi-incomprehensible monologues or comedy skits delivered to a webcam.
― oedipaul mccartney (bends), Saturday, 7 September 2013 03:06 (twelve years ago)
hmm, in that case I'm really not sure.
