looks like a 47

The title appears over a 47, but there's a 52 earlier in the title sequence.

Even up to the early 90's you'd get programmes like Tom's Midnight Garden and Moondial.

Moondial was another fantastic series. Just this morning, coincidentally, I was searching for local photos for another thread (the Japanese War Tuba thread) and came across a photo of the Moondial itself.

morrises minor, or something like that. about a morris minor repair shop. starred tony hawks, and they went on to record, morris minor and the majors (i htink) "stutter rap (no sleep till bedtime)" another hi-larious brit-novelty pop rap tune.

never heard it tho, there was only one copy on slsk and i never managed to get it.

never met anyone who remembers seeing this i dont think

I remember that too!

They released two singles - the other one was called "This is the chorus". The chorus went:

This is the chorus
It goes round and around and gets into your brain
This is the chorus
And twenty seconds from now, you'll hear it again.

I'm fairly sure that was them, anyway.

xpost: I remember Ace Of Wands. Main character was called Tarot, sig went something like "Tarot has a Tarot phenomenon, Tarot is a mystic man." Good, but Timeslip was even better.

The king of these progs for me is Zokko. I have one friend who remembers it - but many people who surely must have watched it get strangely adamant that I'm making it up. However mark s remembers it which is a good sign. There's also a bit on the net, although the best link, which had a picture of the zokko pinball table, is now mysteriously missing.

The Home Front - Peter Tinniswood's existential time-travel black comedy that is theoretically my favourite programme ever (given that I haven't seen it since 1981) and still breaks my heart. (I found a novelisation in the library a few years back and it was great but it wasn't the same.)

Some programme about a hotel, I don't know whether it was a drama or a comedy. My mum used to watch it on a friday or saturday night when I was quite young, maybe about 15 years ago. She doesn't know what I'm talking about though. I vaguely remember folk having affairs, some old woman wandering the corridors, I don't even know if it was british or american.

Oh, that's Hotel. It was set in San Francisco and featured the same posturing, backstabbing bitches and shoulder pads common to all late-80s US nighttime soaps. It was one of the last to be commissioned - like after Falcon Crest or Dynasty, so it was appalling and had to have James Brolin in it. That's an '80s US TV regulation.

So Haunt Me - not bad for a BBC sitcom. It got mentioned in the press around here, because one joke featured a disparaging comment about the place.

The Children Of Green Knowe, I don't see how anyone could forget. I've thought about seeing if we could have a Cambridge FAP there - it's just off the A14, and they are willing to show people round if you get in touch in advance.

Captain Zep - My memory may be playing tricks on me but all the kids in the audience for this show used to wear Captain Zep pin badges. You could also write in from home having solved something and they would send you a badge (my memory not clear on this as you can tell). Anyway when I wrote off and said badge arrived it was just a crappy sticker. I was REALLY disappointed. I seem to remember my Mum and I writing back and saying how rubbish this was and they sent me a proper metal pin badge as worn on the show. (No such problems with Tiger Tim and The Untied Shoelaces Show, they sent me a badge no problem. Good old Tiger Tim) I can't remember what this Zep badge looked like and can't remember seeing it in my badge box so I'm doubting this is true but I seem to have some memory of it.

My standard 'I remember this and you don't' show is 'The Ghosts of Montley Hall'. Sunday afternoons before (after?) Glen Michael's Cavalcade

1. Connie - Mid-1980's ITV drama set around the rag trade in the Midlands. Starred Stephanie Beacham.

2. Strike It Rich - this was on the BBC and was about Premium Bond/lottery winners.

3. Maelstrom - spooky 1980's thriller set in Scandinavia. Scary-looking dolls played a prominent part.

4. Westbeach - Early 1990's post-Eldorado BBC soap effort at two feuding families in a seaside town.

5. Rides - Early 1990's drama about an all-women taxi firm.
