OK, not so unlikely in the grand scheme of things, I figure that's at the Grammys or something like that, but still, yeah, a weird set of people to share a photo.

All that's missing from that photo is Don Was.

Also it's funny, like I suspect that if you took all the people who most frequently come up in these photos - which would be, what, Roth, Axl, Hillary Clinton and Gaga - and had a photo of the four of them together, I wouldn't be remotely surprised.

It's from backstage at a Pet Shop boys tour, as seen in the Random Notes section of the May 16th 1991 issue of Rolling Stone.

The show, a sprawling journey with three songs taking place in a simulated dormitory, won the praise of Rose. In turn, the Boys sang the praises of the author of "Mr. Brownstone."

I saw The Call in 1990 (or so) and Harry Dean turned up during the encore with Garth Hudson.

My HDS encounter happened at the 2004 ACL fest. Billy Joe Shaver was performing on the final day and halfway into his set Stanton appears out of nowhere in a three-piece suit with a guitar strapped on. He uses Shaver's mic to give a benediction of sorts* before starting in on one of Shaver's songs in a duet.

*"This guy's the real deal, and it's been an honor working with him..." (they'd just shot The Wendell Baker Story together).
