I want the ability to save threads for offline reading. Yes, I know about Instapaper, and I know that Zing will keep the last threads you've read in memory, but I'd like to not have to use an outside program or worry about a crash/greedy memory hog/whatever wiping them out before I can get to them.

Zing keeps threads in the memory?

Yep, at least for a little while, until something else overwrites that part of memory.

Any updates planned for Zing? A Bookmarks page (where I could see un-updated bookmarked threads) would be nice...

Was working on offline on holiday in the land without data. Version I have loads all your unread bookmarks and saves them for offline. (Saving a thread for offline then is just a matter of bookmarking an older post)

Also coming is multi-account and site support, sandboxers rejoice, a custom home screen with just starred boards, full-size pics, ad some other bits and bobs.

iPad version I started to play with, but it'll be tons of work. If someone wants to make a larger site icon I'll put it up tho.

yo stet i have noticed lately that when clicking the safari logo in a post launches the WHOLE THREAD in safari, when iirc it used to load the permalink of the post you were coming from?

Thought you couldn't really launch Safari from other apps these days. Although maybe it prompts you and asks Do You Really Want To Open Safari?, I never tried in Zing Tooches.

I haven't changed anything my end; I wonder if Safari has changed. You do have to be logged in on ILX in Safari before it'll work, though -- the auto-login strips the message. And it only works with pint Zing; Zing Lite just opens the thread.

Pint zing is red, and I buy a pint (or a Crunchie) when a copy gets sold. I also add you to my list of heroes. Lite Zing is blue and free.

hmmm ok i just tried again-- def login in to ILX on safari, and it just took me to the whole thread, not the permalink i was coming from. seems really intermittent, cant figure out why its working in some instances and not in others.

not really a big deal, just figured it was something you'd want to know that was happening.

It is happening to me, too.

Something weird is happening. Zing Touch won't allow me to read the gay thread. It just won't open - the little spinning wheel stops, but on the bottom it gets stuck on "Loading" but no messages load. All other threads open fine, and the error happens under all circumstances I've tested: 3G, wifi, many and few unread messages.

I'm updating to iOS5 now, so maybe that will take care of the problem.

I usually think of Zing being my guardian angel in both of these cases.

I just tried the gay thread from both the board and the bookmark and it didn't work either way.

I am still on iOS4, btw. Ran into a snag last night and put it off.

I've been wanting to say there that it would be awesome if regular ILX was more like Zing Touch in some ways, including the formatting buttons and....I forget. There are other things. Oh! Yes, the quote button!
