That's funny.

I think Allie makes a good point. Obama's always been a center-right pragmatist with speck of leftwing spice here and there... just read The Nation to see how the progressive left is feeling on Obama now that he's won. womp womp.
Ok but that cartoon is just weird. Change is moving into the White House, as half (half?) of a Trojan horse, leaving behind The Left, with Obama as a trailer hitch? Fuck, explain me all that, and I'll send you a Christmas present.
― fiscal liberal (kenan), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 05:55 (seventeen years ago)
Start with explaining how a Trojan horse works when it's cut in half and you can see right into it.
― fiscal liberal (kenan), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 06:00 (seventeen years ago)
Also, Trojan horses generally should not have words like "CHANGE" or "THE LEFT" painted on their surfaces.
― Neil Willett, Tuesday, 2 December 2008 06:39 (seventeen years ago)
Sorry, I missed a nuance.
Having the word "CHANGE" on a banner on the front of YOUR TROJAN HORSE might be OK as long as you remember to remove the banner before wheeling it up to the enemy.
However painting the words "THE LEFT" directly onto YOUR TROJAN HORSE is just kind of self-defeating.
(also important: remember not to stand on top of YOUR TROJAN HORSE as it may tend to arouse suspicion)
― Neil Willett, Tuesday, 2 December 2008 06:44 (seventeen years ago)
Unless lefty CHANGE is what the White House is expecting, but they're getting it without THE LEFT. In which case, why the Trojan horse at all?
― fiscal liberal (kenan), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 06:59 (seventeen years ago)
you guys definitely need to think harder about this
― TOMBOT, Tuesday, 2 December 2008 06:59 (seventeen years ago)
It's late. Just explain it, plz, I'll be indebted.
― fiscal liberal (kenan), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 07:01 (seventeen years ago)
Ok ok... so there's the White House, or Warshington, as it were, welcoming Change. Which is arriving in the form of a deception, a Trojan horse. So the Change wouldn't really be Change even if it did get inside the gates in one piece. But Obama is further confounding expectations by letting go of the ass-end of the Change, which is The Left. So... what's in the front end of the horse? Is the right-wing cartoonist more or less approving of the front end now that The Left is unhitched?
― fiscal liberal (kenan), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 07:09 (seventeen years ago)
Is the idea that, Left attached or not, whatever Obama's in charge of is something duplicitous and worthy of suspicion? And if so, should I identify with the expressionless soldiers pulling the horse into the establishment?
― fiscal liberal (kenan), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)

I love that warnings of threats from possible militants is enough to stop shit from happening.
"hey an attack could happen to you, based on what we know about these guys. we even have the name of a huge fuckoff metropolis where it seems likely to happen, and a time frame of a few months from now, give or take."
