Can't believe this all-time classic comedy gold thread hasn't been mentioned:
TS: Most Retarded-Looking Barenaked Ladies Member on This Album Cover

Edward III, Saturday, 8 September 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

NO. (☃)

kv_nol, Saturday, 8 September 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

Among the many threads of hilarity, inspired bickering and general WTFness that have been nominated here, I would like to nominate a kinder, gentler thread, in the off hope that all the white couches, Lysol douches and photoshopped insanity will split the vote and leave room for a dark horse to walk away with the honors:

A thread where you commission a poem from ILE

Aimless, Saturday, 8 September 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

NO. (☃) seconded.

gr8080, Saturday, 8 September 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

i dont even see ethan on that thread

roxymuzak, Saturday, 8 September 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

What's the format going to be for this, anyway? Classic ILX email poll or nuILX autopoll? I'm hoping for the former, and maybe even a pre-polling thread where we argue the merits of the finalists.

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 8 September 2007 19:05 (eighteen years ago)

is there a definitive fake dr. morbius thread?

max, Saturday, 8 September 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

Tape Store, Sunday, 9 September 2007 03:20 (eighteen years ago)

i can't remember what it was called, but i loved the hari ashburton thread where he catalogued his trip to the fish and chips shop in photographs

gem, Sunday, 9 September 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

Not the one where he peed his pants??

jaymc, Sunday, 9 September 2007 05:52 (eighteen years ago)

no not that one. That one was sort of funny but also quite creepy! There was another one where he did this little photojournal of him and his gf going to get fish and chips. I can't find it in the search engine, I tried.

gem, Sunday, 9 September 2007 06:01 (eighteen years ago)

there are a couple really cute hari threads

roxymuzak, Sunday, 9 September 2007 07:06 (eighteen years ago)

Oh no! I've commited a felony

Ned Trifle II, Sunday, 9 September 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

Covert Ops: Obtaining Dinner from the Fish And Chip shop

Ned Trifle II, Sunday, 9 September 2007 16:05 (eighteen years ago)

Hari sure was good-looking.

Abbott, Sunday, 9 September 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Sunday, 9 September 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Sunday, 9 September 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

God I knew there was one I was forgetting. Lock thread.

Matt DC, Sunday, 9 September 2007 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

Best non-rofflicious thread might be interesting

blueski, Sunday, 9 September 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

Gear's Sofa thread definitely.

And I just found this one randomly in I Love Music

Taking sides: Madonna or Janet Jackson?

The middle part is the best!

Miza Din II, Sunday, 9 September 2007 19:08 (eighteen years ago)

Ah yeah, that's a legend, that one.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 9 September 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

Best non rofflicious thread = the one about the Danish Mohammed cartoons.

Matt DC, Sunday, 9 September 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

I could never read the entire Madonna Janet thread which is part why it is so stupifying and a classic. This was one great post in the thread

the pressing question howevah: if I am in fact nasty but address Miss Jackson as "Janet," does she have any other tools at her disposal for determining whether I am nasty or not? Or does the whole proposition pivot on the assumption that the persons addressing her will be honest about their nastiness/non-nastiness? if so this is a pretty weak (albeit touchingly naive) method for assessing the relative nastiness of the applicant and new research is necessary

A Thread about the film JFK

latebloomer, Monday, 10 September 2007 02:55 (eighteen years ago)

I think I'll turn this into a poll at some point either on Tuesday or Wednesday, so get your votes in quick!

Liverpool Tickets Fiasco is one of my personal faves as well, btw.

Just got offed, Monday, 10 September 2007 10:57 (eighteen years ago)

A new contender!

You could say the same for the 'living with gay pornographer' thread, although the fact that every other post is a breathless affirmation of the thread's 'top-ten potential' or whatnot is somewhat irritating.

That said, Sausade's post is probably enough to ensure its nomination.

Just got offed, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

no winning thread being from 2002-2004, no credibility

blueski, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

Wait so what are the rules of nomination here? It looks like a couple of threads have been rejected for no reason.

Can a list of what has been nominated, what has been seconded and what needs seconding be drawn up?

kv_nol, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

I'll do one when I'm not at work. Everything with two or more nominations is going into the poll, nowhere have I stated that a thread's being rejected (unless it's clearly ironic or abusive, natch).

Threads only NEED seconding if they deserve seconding, i.e. if more than one person deems it worthy of nomination!

Just got offed, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

(unless it's clearly ironic or abusive, natch).

If the nomination is ironic, agreed. As to abusive, some threads belong to the ages now and should be remembered.

As to 'deserving' seconding, fair point. A bit subjective but completely understandable.

kv_nol, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

If no one seconds the Missionary Position thread I will be sad.

Matt DC, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think seconding should be required. Most people at this point are just naming threads that haven't already been named and aren't going back to look over the whole list and determine which nominations they agree with.

Or how about this? I second everything that's been named so far. There.

jaymc, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

I second every thread that has been mentioned. No exceptions.

kv_nol, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

I'm nominating

BEST THREAD ON ILX: Part ONE - The Nominations

Matt DC, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

Now that's just being silly.

kv_nol, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)

this contest needs spicing up. i suggest that all of the nominated threads that don't win the final poll be deleted forever. and the people who started them be banned. forever.

blueski, Monday, 10 September 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

nah, too harsh. maybe you could do that for every thread not to get a vote, or something.
