That does make a good point about short politicians with big ears. Throw Perot in there too.

No, I can actually follow these.
― Mark C, Saturday, 16 February 2008 16:04 (eighteen years ago)
SERIOUSLY guys can we give Lacey his own separate thread and get him to stop spamming this one into the ground?
― Doctor Casino, Saturday, 16 February 2008 17:18 (eighteen years ago)
This ain't spam. This is some batshit rightwing stuff that blows my mind every time.
― Pleasant Plains, Saturday, 16 February 2008 17:44 (eighteen years ago)
A guy hoarding fetuses under Minneapolis to build a soul machine.
No, these should be kept right here.
Though if you're going to build a soul machine in the Twin Cities, I'd suggest doing it in Chanhassen instead.
― Pleasant Plains, Saturday, 16 February 2008 17:46 (eighteen years ago)
I'm wondering if a proper soul machine would look more like some funky huge Tesla dynamo thing, or more like something out of "Stargate". I suppose there are video games covering the same topics I could investigate were I so inclined, but fuggit.
― kingfish, Saturday, 16 February 2008 17:48 (eighteen years ago)
I've changed the wording to read 'at last my soul machine will be complete, because you haven't actually seen it yet.
I'm all in favor of contributing to a separate thread where I can spam away to my heart's delight. I agree that if I keep posting full pages here it's going to weigh down the thread. The lowest I can go with scans is about a 15 quality jpeg, but even those are sizeable.

2007 Today's Toons Favorites: Results various | 1/14/08 | various
Posted on 01/14/2008 4:54:47 AM PST by pookie18
After starting with >13,000 possibilities, the 3rd annual Best Of Today's Toons is over & all the votes have been tallied. Neither hanging nor pregnant chads were encountered & Diebold equipment was not used. First, a few stats. This was the closest voting to date. 29 of the 40 finalists received 1st-place votes. There were 82 valid entries received & thanks to all of you who took the time to vote!! Votes were cast, in order of preference, for between 1 & 10 of the finalists. Cartoonists Michael Ramirez(12), Sam Ryskind(3), Glenn McCoy(3), Eric Allie(2), Mark Thornhill(2) & Chris Muir(2) all had the multiple items in the finals. FReepers reagan_fanatic & ThePeoplesCube had one item apiece. The method of scoring was as follows: A 1st-place vote received 10 pts., a 2nd-place vote earned 9 pts., ..., down to a 10th-place vote which got 1 pt.
If you'd like to inquire about possibly helping (as one FReeper has already done) with the Best Of 2008, FReepmail me by the end of this month at the latest (shortly after which the Best Of January 2008 will be determined) & I'll tell you what would be involved. And now, the results:
#40 (51 pts./0 1st-place votes; finished tied for 22nd in the preliminary round):

But wait a minute, Godwin's Law just says:
"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one."
which doesn't actually have anything to do with whether the analogy is appropriate or not, or that the person making the analogy automatically loses.
But anyway, yeah, you know those guys, the ones who aren't advocating torture, going on about how we have enemies inside who are weakening our own resolve and stabbing our soldiers in the back? they're the real nazis n' shit. They're such horrible people. Why, things would be much better if we could just "get rid" of them somehow...

Calling those "her words" is indeed rather strange. Some are, but it's still pretty mangled.

Having taught math for 5 years to idiotic ADD college kids, the notion of arming teachers has always seemed incredibly foolish to me. The times that I would have gladly pointed a firearm at a student's head and shouted, SHUT UP AND INTEGRATE OR EAT LEAD, LITTLE JOHNNY, are greater than a sober mathematician can count.

Often times, I've struggled to shoehorn a political point into a nonsensical anecdote involving lab rats that can read, and at those times I ask myself, "What would Mallard Fillmore do?"
