Tusk?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 15:50 (fifteen years ago)

tango in the night iirc

caek, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 15:53 (fifteen years ago)

This match contains some of the greatest action ever imo

Aaargh! You fucker! That match is one half of the day of my greatest footballing nightmare. Leeds benefitting from a series a bizarre gift goals and then the final indignity at Anfield completing three back-to-back defeats in less than a week.

Running the Gantelope (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 28 September 2010 18:54 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I bet the last eighteen years barely make a dent in the anguish.

acoleuthic, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 19:06 (fifteen years ago)

Only three-and-a-bit years before Liverpool reach that stage in the cycle btw.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 28 September 2010 19:07 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I bet the last eighteen years barely make a dent in the anguish

Oh they certainly make up for it, that's true, but whatever comes afterwards can never change the feeling at the time. There was no way of knowing in 92 what was around the corner - instead it felt Newcastle in 96, the one big chance blown never to return.

Running the Gantelope (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 28 September 2010 19:19 (fifteen years ago)

my third football match iirc

My first match at Old Trafford (many years after my first actual match) was against Sheffield United in 1991. I'd like to be able to say something about The Blades' performance to add to this thread, but I can't remember anything.

what do you know? is this idea an lj original?

caek, Tuesday, 14 December 2010 19:20 (fifteen years ago)

prediction made within minutes of big sam's dismissal based on nothing but intuition. next thing you know, the vacancy is there...

schlomo replay (acoleuthic), Wednesday, 15 December 2010 01:21 (fifteen years ago)

feel like uniting allardyce and morgan would result in a platonic ideal of dislikable club. long shot though i think.

apparently not pesch.

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

if you want to see the man u 2018 starting line up play a couple of 2018 tottenham reserves and some kids then tune in now!

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

A Tom Huddlestone-sized 18-year-old centre-half, Maguire is a minor cult figure in South Yorkshire, having dumped Craig Bellamy on his backside three times while making his senior debut against Cardiff in April.

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

Chris, Monday, 23 May 2011 18:57 (fifteen years ago)

That's the kid they poached from Le Havre, and nearly got in a lot of trouble for but y'know.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 23 May 2011 18:59 (fifteen years ago)

lol, just turned on the fa website stream and the commentators that second started talking about that penalty incident.

Chris, Monday, 23 May 2011 18:59 (fifteen years ago)

Heh, I didn't know about that - the youtube comments under the highlights are as partisan as ever, Liverpool all over them til the penalty, referee to blame, credit to the lads, etc

Ismael Klata, Monday, 23 May 2011 19:05 (fifteen years ago)

I had two pound on them at 36 to 1.

Introducing the Hardline According to (jim in glasgow), Monday, 23 May 2011 19:42 (fifteen years ago)

two man u goals before half time, now 3-1

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 20:08 (fifteen years ago)

36/1 tonight? pretty generous for a two horse race.

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

4-1 now

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

Ismael Klata, Monday, 23 May 2011 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

caek, Monday, 23 May 2011 20:34 (fifteen years ago)

Sheffield United have named Danny Wilson as their new manager on a three-year contract.

The 51-year-old ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss left his last post at Swindon in March, resigning with the club in the League One relegation zone.

caek, Friday, 27 May 2011 12:38 (fifteen years ago)

very likely yes

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 3 May 2023 17:22 (three years ago)

I just hope they have treacle in their boots tomorrow night, can't be dealing with the potential of a last game relegation like in 2002. My heart can't take it. After Burnley getting into bother for putting out a weakened squad for a dead rubber game it seems we'll up against a full strength xi who have just won 4 on the bounce.

calzino, Wednesday, 3 May 2023 17:46 (three years ago)

2001 wasn't it?

Toploader on the road, unite and take over (Bananaman Begins), Thursday, 4 May 2023 14:05 (three years ago)

oops, yeah that is correct. It was a bad year for silly bald guy... and Patrick Stewart. It was a fucking conspiracy of other managers putting out weakened sides, and ulp... we just needed a point for safety in the penultimate game and completely fucked it.

calzino, Thursday, 4 May 2023 14:19 (three years ago)

Premiership? your having a laugh! tbh now now I feel deprived of a angst ridden last game cliffhanger

calzino, Thursday, 4 May 2023 20:39 (three years ago)

I don't care that he's a gammon and widely despised on ilx. WARNOCK IS GOD!!!!

Wow! Grats to ILx Blades and Terriers.
