It's no personal beef: like I say, the guy is on my Facebook friends' list. I have no grudge, I just think that the combo of white guy in fancy dress as Lil Wayne + hanging out with fat chicks is kinda of "funny because it's true" to a lot of zingtone posters. fwiw, as i alluded on the other thread, this guy has posted on ILX a few times in the past year or so, so not really a regular but probably does fall under 'board meta' guidelines in that respect. i haven't told him about that thread or invited him to jump into the fray but depending on whether people think that's a good or terrible idea i might do that.

it was better when there were more voices expressing lively opinions & individual perspectives, to be sure. however, many of the now-absent voices were encouraged to leave BY the fat jokes & fag-calling. many others have left for their own IRL reasons, not because of a more polite atmosphere. it’s a furphy to conclude that ILX would be better now if we still had three funny assholes and 12 boring assholes, whether or not we still had a hundred interesting & smart ppl who have also gone.
