Question for the crowd?

Under the current labor agreement, is it possible for there to be a player/manager anymore?

Seeing a story about Frank Robinson becoming player/manager for the Indians got me wondering why that gimmick had not been done lately.

I was trying to think of a player/manager after Pete Rose with the Reds and could not think of one. Was Rose the last one?

not sure about the CBA but seems like that's just too much work for one person, not sure why a player would ever want to take on that responsibility/pressure

Molina suspended for one game. Jeez, MLB are some cranks; I think the poor guy's learned his lesson

Evan R, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:09 (one year ago) link

bumping/shoving an umpire is an automatic suspension. that it's only one game suggests that MLB doesn't think it was malicious

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:14 (one year ago) link

Apparently the d-bag manager pointed toward Yadi and referred to him with an “adjective”, I think that’s what set him off.

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:17 (one year ago) link

he charged a manager from the dugout, shoved an ump and started to take a swing. It seemed pretty malicious to me. Has any player shoved umpires more and been punished less for it than Molina?

Evan R, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:18 (one year ago) link

he didn't charge from the dugout? he wildly overreacted to lovullo's backhanded praise of his framing skills -- some version of 'fuck' is in every single sentence on a baseball field -- and tried to get at lovullo with the ump in the way

i mean, yadi is an annoying redass, but he didn't actually hit anyone

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 21:37 (one year ago) link

ah, I got confused watching the video about his positioning. Still seems insanely inconsistent to me. Last year Willson Contreras got a two-day suspension for bouncing a helmet that accidentally hit an ump. Brett Lawrie once got four games for the same thing. One game for shoving an ump directly seems generous.

Discipline has been issued to pitcher Joe Kelly of the Boston Red Sox and first baseman Tyler Austin of the New York Yankees as a result of the bench-clearing incident that occurred in the top of the seventh inning of Wednesday night’s game at Fenway Park. Joe Torre, Chief Baseball Officer for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Kelly has received a six-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally hitting Austin with a pitch and fighting. Austin has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for charging the mound and fighting. Also fined as a part of last night’s incident were Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Yankees third base coach Phil Nevin. Players on the disabled list who were fined for entering the field were pitcher CC Sabathia of the Yankees and shortstop Xander Bogaerts, infielder Marco Hernandez and second baseman Dustin Pedroia of the Red Sox.

Both suspensions had been scheduled to be effective tonight, when the two Clubs are to continue their series at Fenway. However, both players have elected to appeal. Thus, the discipline issued to both Kelly and Austin will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.

mookieproof, Thursday, 12 April 2018 21:46 (one year ago) link

i'm less concerned than brisbee about many of those things. i don't really care about the overall length of the game, but i would appreciate fewer conferences on the mound, less of nomar garciaparra refastening his batting gloves, and less of rodrigo lopez just staring at the catcher whenever runners are on base. if that leads to more offense, i'm okay with that. if it gets out of hand, they can always raise the mound or something.

limitations on pickoffs/extra-inning runners/mercy rule/limiting shifts are all dumb and ridiculous. limiting the number of relievers on the roster sounds like a recipe for injuries. cutting time between pitches might theoretically lead to injuries? but it's only a very recent thing where every big league pitcher needs a 95mph fastball -- there are ways to pitch effectively without throwing everything as hard as possible.

anyway, less time talking/fidgeting would be nice; if it leads to more game action, that's fine

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Cardinals center fielder Tommy Pham was removed from St. Louis’ game against the New York Mets on Wednesday night in the bottom of the third inning due to a head injury sustained earlier in the day.

Pham got a cut on his head before the game when he accidentally hit himself in the indoor batting cage.

Pham, who has been battling hamstring issues, missed games on Saturday and Sunday against Cincinnati. He returned to the lineup Monday and went 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in a 6-5 loss to the Mets.

Pham hit a fly ball to right field in the first inning. Harrison Bader then pinch-hit for him in the third.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Thursday, 26 April 2018 03:15 (one year ago) link

Pham injured himself in the batting cage when a “hitting contraption” of his design snapped the bat barrel back and caught him in the head. “Blood started gushing. I need to get that fixed,” he says. https://t.co/5gbneoZoND

pham gave kind of an odd interview about the injury after the game where he casually mentioned that he had been stabbed before so he was used to blood. turns out it was his father who stabbed him, about 5 years ago:

Tommy Pham gave me the back story on being stabbed. He said about 5 yrs ago his step father stabbed him just below the rib cage while they were fighting. Tommy said he was Ok, but there was quite a bit of blood.

lol, i just started looking it up to see. i guess maybe one way to calculate it would just be (30s WAR) - (20s WAR), and the competition is stiff. Barry Bonds had 99.6 fWAR in his 30s (and 65 more in his 20s)! but you know, steroids.

i have to run an errand but when i get home i might dump it all into a spreadsheet and see who really turned it up a notch in their 30s

Karl Malone, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:13 (one year ago) link

one that came to mind: your homie Jim Edmonds had almost a 40 WAR in his thirties

omar little, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:16 (one year ago) link

Bonds' (30s - 20s) WAR is 34.6. Jackie Robinson put up 48.8 of his 57.2 career WAR during his 30s, for a (30s - 20s) score of 40.2

if Pham can somehow keep up this pace for 6-7 full seasons, he could win this prestigious prize that has such a great name: The 30s - 20s WAR score, presented by Honda

Karl Malone, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:18 (one year ago) link

r.a. dickey: 0.7 WAR in his 20s, 17.2 WAR in his 30s, 5.1 WAR in his 40s

one that came to mind: your homie Jim Edmonds had almost a 40 WAR in his thirties

45.5 WAR, according to fangraphs! but he also put up 19.4 WAR during his 20s, leaving him with a (30s - 20s) score of 45.5 - 19.4 = 26.1. Sorry Jimmy.

here's a sorted list: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2018&month=0&season1=1871&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=30,58&filter=&players=0

Karl Malone, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:20 (one year ago) link

Raul Ibanez wasn't exactly a WAR beast but he didn't start hitting until he was almost 30. I think his 20s WAR was 0.something and in his thirties it was a robust 20.something.

omar little, Thursday, 26 April 2018 17:23 (one year ago) link

Would 30s WAR as percentage of career WAR be a better yardstick? Maybe with a career minimum of 25 or something.

~105 mph is apparently the limit for pitchers?

Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks became the second pitcher ever (after Aroldis Chapman) to hit the 105mph mark, tossing two fastballs at that epic speed during an appearance against the Phillies on Sunday. As The Athletic’s Mark Saxon writes in a subscription-only piece, Hicks’ feat may represent the virtual limit of how fast a human arm can throw a baseball. “The maximum can’t go up, because the ligaments can’t take it,” said Dr. Glenn Fleisig, research director of the American Sports Medicine Institute. “We’re at the limit, based upon what ligaments and tendons can take….What’s happening is more teams have more guys near the top of the limit, but the limit is just going up nominally. It really can’t go up. Maybe at the top it will go up one mph or so, but never will it be 10 mph faster. It’s just more crowded near the top now.”

i have previously, in this space, marveled at the fact that mike pelfrey made $47m playing baseball. it's still difficult to believe, tbh, but let's take a look at the career of homer bailey.

in 12 seasons, he's been above league-average twice. he broke 2 bWAR once. he has negative bWAR in six of those seasons. he's been worth 4.7 bWAR overall and fading fast. never even made the all-star team. he's also 'earned' $86m so far and is guaranteed $23m more in 2019 plus a $5m buyout for 2020.

i mean i'm all for taking money from MLB owners, but damn. despite being manifestly better, jacob degrom will never make anywhere near that much money. bailey did throw two no-hitters though! (say it morbs . . . )

i imagine reds fans have a slightly different view of him, though

obviously DLC (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 29 May 2018 02:31 (one year ago) link

2013 when Homer Bailey signed the extension he was coming off a couple years of 200+ innings and seemed to be heading into his peak. Johnny Cueto was coming off the second year in a row where he had lost nearly 1/2 season to an abdominal problem that did not seem to want to heal. Bailey had already been a Red for a few years and with the couple of no hitters, I think they hoped they were signing a power pitcher that would continue to improve as some pitchers of that style do.

Reds had bum luck as both Bailey and now Met catcher Devin Mesoraco didn't both just get hurt, they were pretty much total busts as contract extensions. They got near nothing out of them.

I still think Bailey has enough arm left that he could still become productive in some way down the line. Don't know if the bullpen is the place to get him straight, but it might work. Some seem to think if used as a short man, his fastball might get some more pop.

(xp) Not only that but if they let that pitch slide without ejection, it just sets the stage for a real bloodbath. The Mets players are taking issue with the fact that there was no warning prior to the game. He already owns an unusual but interesting record -- at least since people started keeping track, he has the record for most consecutive games to start a season where the pitcher goes at least five innings and allows six or fewer hits. Cole has done that all 17 times this year.

The odd thing is that Justin Verlander did it in his first 16 starts this season. There must be something in that Houston water.

it's a result of the new CBA:

As part of baseball’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the players’ union, the 2018 season will include a shorter spring training, more off days during the season, and add four more days to the playing calendar. That means an earlier start to the season, in late March.

It also means the Thursday of the All-Star break will feature one game, a nationally broadcast game ala Sunday Night Baseball. According to a schedule given the Cardinals they will play against the Cubs at Wrigley Field that day, July 19. Teams can be selected only once during the span of the current CBA for that All-Star Thursday game.

You know, back in the 1950s the Cubs were awful, and when the Cardinals visited Chicago there were a lot of people who would show up just to watch Stan Musial hit. The same is true today, for Matt Carpenter. A large contingent of Cubs fans are here just to watch Matt Carpenter hit.

The Giants are only 5.5 back after losing:
#1 SP Bumgarner - 61 games (broken finger, dirt bike crash)
#2 SP Cueto - 11 days/2 starts (sprained ankle)
#2 SP Cueto - 62 games (sprained elbow)
#3 SP Samardzija - 36 games (shoulder stiffness)
#3 SP Samardzija - currently on the DL (shoulder stiffness)

That's like 34+ games of minor-league call-ups filling in for the top 3 in their rotation.

If any of those gimps can get it together, the Giants could compete in that terrible division.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 24 July 2018 22:18 (one year ago) link

hanging around .500 with those injuries is way more than any giants fan could have asked for. but there's four competitive teams in that division...

InfoWarriors (Spottie), Tuesday, 24 July 2018 22:22 (one year ago) link

Also they lost their closer (Melancon - flexor) & set-up man/back-up closer (Strickland - idiot) for most of the season. Who else...? Longoria? Pence (probably a net-positive)... They are basically a half-minor league team.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 24 July 2018 22:55 (one year ago) link

shit's gonna happen when you have one of the oldest teams in baseball. tbh they'd be better off if samardzija had been out the whole year

5.5 back is feasible, but they have three teams in front of them and they're already three games up on their pythag

i don't know where they're gonna get 'controllable players' tho -- they have no prospects to trade and the big leaguers are either untouchable or not very valuable. (maybe tony watson, with the way people are about relievers these days)

it seems churlish to bash them after how very successful they've been, but they seem intent on driving their aging, expensive team off a cliff

my understanding is that the 'electronic strike zone' is, at present, not quite as accurate as the average umpire and much more susceptible to crazy errors. and that you shouldn't necessarily trust the various tv depictions of the zone or pitch location graphs

also, yelling at umpires is fun and entertaining and most of them are quite good at what they do -- i think the technology will have to be demonstrably better than the umps, which may not happen, before it is implemented

there is no "zone" as the game is currently constructed, only a set of probabilities based on where the pitch is and the situation. that pitch is called a strike about half the time. hitters know this, pitchers know this, tough luck I guess

in the NHL you get 10 games (in a season half as long) just for coming off the bench during a brawl, whether you hit anyone or not. (certain fourth-liners -- and they know who they are -- will do it anyway if someone important is being overwhelmed.)

i'm not sure what the suspension guidelines are vis-a-vis the players union, but acuña's just as much a member as ureña is (as were darvish and yuli gurriel in the world series last year). but six games is a joke -- he might miss one start, and if he games the appeal process, not even that. and he's playing for a shitty team with nothing to lose, unlike the braves, if they were to retaliate

baseline of 15 games for starters in a cut-and-dry case like this and go from there imo. and fine everyone who came out of the bullpen

Mookie otm. Plunking is dumb. It's going to be a 101 mph fastball to the head one day.

MLB must be talking to announcers who keep plain or tacitly promoting those pre-historic baseball ideals also, the irony that it happened to a Braves player wasn't lost on me.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 17 August 2018 16:30 (one year ago) link

Jose Urethra:
How about suspending a starting pitcher 5 starts instead of 5 or 10 games for a severe infraction? That has some impact to a team vs a suspension of 5 to 10 games where the pitcher will miss 1 start maybe 2.

Jeff Sullivan:
Suspensions aren’t about games missed as much as they’re about salary missed. If you suspend Urena five times as long as you’d suspend a position player, that means Urena is forfeiting five times as much salary. How is that fair, from a player perspective?

Not to mention that the impact a starting pitcher can make in one game is roughly equivalent to the impact a position player can make over four or five games, anyhow

I’m not arguing the idea of sending a stronger message; I hate things like what Urena did, and I think he should face a more severe penalty. But it’s not going to be easy for MLB to establish a new precedent, given that this is how things operate now, and if Manfred came out and suspended Urena for the rest of the year, the union wouldn’t be happy about it.

xp the yanks have a tendency to look like a little league team in the field sometimes, which could be an unfortunate result of having so many youngsters out there at once.

but honestly it was super embarrassing--higashioka couldn't locate a ball that was one foot from him and anderson stole home, voit misplays a ball on an infield in with no outs--not only did the runner score but the hitter made it to second.

I have to side with Joe West on this one. It's not like they don't have time to go over the scouting reports before the game or between innings, or get the coaches to relay signals from the dugout. Even if it doesn't delay the game, it feels unnecessary and kind of embarrassing. You're essentially broadcasting the fact that you're not properly prepared to play the game that day.

FG has the Red Sox WS odds at 16.4%, while the Astros are at 23.7%. How does that make sense? Aren't the Sox a better team?

frogbs, Friday, 14 September 2018 15:51 (one year ago) link

definitely the better team. that's odd. also, just yesterday on the radio (just a little sports round-up segment on chicago NPR) they were saying that the Red Sox's odds to win the WS were > 25%? maybe half the red sox got injured this morning

Karl Malone, Friday, 14 September 2018 15:57 (one year ago) link

yea 538 has it as 28% Sox, 25% Astros. that's uh...a pretty significant difference. I think FG's methodology is more sophisticated than 538s, which IIRC is based almost entirely on ELO.

na (NA), Friday, 14 September 2018 16:22 (one year ago) link

Boston has the better record, wouldn't they be playing Cleveland? or does the #1 seed play the wild-card winner every time? that seems a little unfair since the wild-card winner is likely to have a better record than the #3 division winner

frogbs, Friday, 14 September 2018 17:38 (one year ago) link

plus the a’s/yankees will presumably have burnt their best starter before facing the sox

tbf i’m not sure the a’s even have any starters left

mookieproof, Friday, 14 September 2018 17:43 (one year ago) link

yeah idk how that factors into the playoff calculations. for example, if the Brewers get the wildcard, I'm assuming their starter is going 3 innings max. if they win whoever plays them in the divisional round is definitely gonna be at an advantage.

frogbs, Friday, 14 September 2018 17:48 (one year ago) link

The Astros have a better run differential than the Red Sox, so the simulations probably see them as even despite the differences in team wins. And with both wild card teams being better than the Indians, the Astros should definitely be big favorites to reach the WS again.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 14 September 2018 18:06 (one year ago) link

The Astros are kind of underrated now because they won last year (winning the first time is a great story, winning the second time doesn't have any broad appeal so people don't talk about them as much) and don't have a clear MVP favourite.

mookieproof, Friday, 14 September 2018 20:18 (one year ago) link

Boston is having a heck of a year and their lineup is really great but in a short series, I think Houston's starting pitching makes it a pick em.

Between Porcello, Price and Rodriquez, one of them will have to step up with Sale. Cole, Kuchel and Morton are a much stronger 2 through 4 in the rotation. Houston has more bullpen depth than last year. Playoff baseball takes a lot of pitchers and the back end of Boston's bullpen is probably their weak spot on the roster.

earlnash, Friday, 14 September 2018 21:39 (one year ago) link

Preference wise, I'd kind of like Oakland to keep hot and make a run. I'd have no issue with Cleveland winning it all, but it would be a fluky run if they won it this year.

Yankees lineup can be diffused by a strikeout pitcher, it's really not unlike the later Torre teams. Teams will get 14 K's and a double play in a pitcher's dual and beat them 3-1 a couple of times.

earlnash, Friday, 14 September 2018 21:43 (one year ago) link

I wouldn't say fluky -- all of Cleveland's core players are as good or better than they were last year. They'll win 90+ games and they're currently seven games off their expected W-L record, so talent wise they're a 100 win team or close to it.

Heard on the Jays broadcast that Justin Smoak is leading American League first basemen in OPS at .823.

Really? Talk about a position in decline. Some leading AL first baseman going back to the 2000 season:

Carlos Delgado - 41 HR/137 RBI/1.134 OPS
Jim Thome - 37/106/.929
Mike Sweeny - 29/144/.930
Jason Giambi - 43/137/1.123
Mo Vaughn - 36/117/.864
Rafael Palmeiro - 39/120/.954

I know those are unadjusted numbers, and I threw in RBI just because the numbers are big and shiny. There were another half-dozen good seasons at a lower level. This year, Justin Smoak's the benchmark.

clemenza, Sunday, 16 September 2018 18:16 (one year ago) link

adjusted
2018:
justin smoak - 24 HR/75 RBI/.823 OPS = 125 wRC+

2000:
Carlos Delgado - 41 HR/137 RBI/1.134 OPS = 179 wRC+
Jim Thome - 37/106/.929 = 131 wRC+
Mike Sweeney - 29/144/.930 = 129 wRC+
Jason Giambi - 43/137/1.123 = 183 wRC+
Mo Vaughn - 36/117/.864 = 114 wRC+
Rafael Palmeiro - 39/120/.954 = 130 wRC+

Karl Malone, Sunday, 16 September 2018 18:34 (one year ago) link

but yeah, it seems to be a bad year for AL first basemen. you have to go back to 2004 (Mark Teixeira, 129 wRC+) to find a similar level of meh for the league leader

Karl Malone, Sunday, 16 September 2018 18:39 (one year ago) link

I came back to post the adjusted numbers, but you beat me to it. I knew Vaughn was going to come in under Smoak's number; surprised Thome, Sweeny, and Palmeiro were so close. I chose 2000 at random; you could probably find a more impressive season for first basemen from around the same time.

No, he wouldn’t be a GM candidate. But there’s a reason that Baer showed up for the Giants’ series in St. Louis last weekend, and it isn’t because he is addicted to toasted ravioli. Do not be surprised if the Giants find a way to hire Matheny in some capacity, with a potential route to take over the dugout bench in 2020.

And who was Matheny’s bench coach for a time in St. Louis? None other than David Bell, who is the Giants’ current farm director – and probably destined for a larger role.

what's wrong with BA??

oh god don't answer that

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 28 September 2018 11:36 (one year ago) link

You don't want to judge a player by BA, but it is a measure of how many outs he makes, and that's pretty important--why, for instance, for all of Harper's HR and BB this year, his offensive WAR is under 4.0. He's made 550 outs.

prefer True Avg OR Outs Made

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 28 September 2018 12:50 (one year ago) link

How would outs made tell you anything without knowing how many times the player went to bat? Hence BA. Again, I'm not saying it gives anywhere close to a complete picture, and of course OBP is more important, but I don't think it should be disregarded. And I don't think there are many writers left who are touting Juan Pierre-type players for MVP.

clemenza, Friday, 28 September 2018 13:12 (one year ago) link

BA also penalizes guys who draw a lot of walks, obviously

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 28 September 2018 14:05 (one year ago) link

Not sure I get that...BA is based on non-walk AB; the one doesn't figure into the other. Drawing a lot of walks helps your BA, for the obvious reason you're more selective. I've also often thought it helps in another less tangible way; when Bonds hit .370 that one year, he did so in a number of AB drastically limited by all the walks he took. If he'd drawn only, say, 70 walks, he would have needed something like 230-240 hits to hit .370 (maybe fewer--I'm at work and estimating). And I just don't think he would have maintained that kind of average without the walks.

clemenza, Friday, 28 September 2018 14:15 (one year ago) link

Bonds is an outlier. Since most walks are as good as a single, it's a plus that doesn't show up in BA.

a Mets fan who gave up on everything in the mid '80s (Dr Morbius), Friday, 28 September 2018 14:50 (one year ago) link

Yelich on deck for a good spot.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:17 (one year ago) link

Rooting for the beyond epic three run homer from Yelich.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:25 (one year ago) link

darn.

but then Braun hitting a homer now would be hilarious.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:29 (one year ago) link

why on earth was braun running there

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:36 (one year ago) link

It was supposed to be a delayed steal of home?

Why risk running yourself out of a big inning like that? Brutal overmanaging there.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:39 (one year ago) link

i knew things were going to go bad when brandon kintzler came in to pitch

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 19:40 (one year ago) link

Aguilar hits into a ton of DPs so the steal makes some sense

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:42 (one year ago) link

anyway if Hader & Jeffress can't get it done then its not meant to be

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:43 (one year ago) link

really can't pull for Milw w/ Hader around

don't really like any NL teams aside from LA (for Kershaw and Puig)

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:50 (one year ago) link

C'mon Morbs, the Pirates are loveable. xpost

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:51 (one year ago) link

i find milwaukee pretty likeable except for hader and braun

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 19:52 (one year ago) link

Cain, Granderson, Yelich, Perralta, Chacin, Thames, Davies, Shaw are all very likeable players.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:54 (one year ago) link

lol had no memory of Granderson ending up there

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 19:58 (one year ago) link

na (NA), Monday, 1 October 2018 20:01 (one year ago) link

was really expecting baez to swing at that 3-0 pitch

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:06 (one year ago) link

mookieproof, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:09 (one year ago) link

Congrats frogbs, hoping the Brewers make the World Series.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:13 (one year ago) link

Collective heart attack when the camera zoomed way out on that Bryant fly ball

I wonder where Jeffress was? Wasn’t even warming up

frogbs, Monday, 1 October 2018 20:18 (one year ago) link

Sutcliffe and Ross on the same telecast. Boy.

Cubs deserved to lose after that god awful rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” by Mike Ditka. That was one of the worst things I’ve ever heard

frogbs, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:00 (one year ago) link

Ditka was the worst thing to happen to Chicago sports let alone the Bears.

omar little, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:22 (one year ago) link

Dodger stadium is empty

Reported attendance was about 37 K (> 80 percent full) but maybe that was in the middle innings? Seeing the stadium so empty at the start of the game was ... weird.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 09:23 (one year ago) link

NARRATOR'S VOICE: It's always empty for the first few innings (and often the last few).
